Tootle riders’ milestone ride - Saturday 30th May

Claire and Paula, two regulars on the CCA Tootle ladies rides, had intended to work towards completing a 50 mile ride this summer, the longest distance either of them have cycled so far. This would have been a first milestone, before going on to other achievements throughout the summer.

Despite the unusual circumstances we all now find ourselves in and without the regular group rides, they’ve both kept up solo training and are ready for the challenge. They’ve devised themselves a suitably distanced way of doing this ride, starting out from Royston/Guilden Morden, heading out solo in opposite directions along a route which takes them up towards St Neots, Papworth Everard and Cambourne.

This will be the result of a huge amount of hard work from both of them, slogging away through rides all winter long. This will be a well deserved achievement and I know they’d love your encouragement.

  • Well done Claire and Paula. Have a great ride, looks like you've picked perfect weather which is always a good start!
  • Well done on sticking with the training, good luck for tomorrow.
  • Well done Claire and Paula - an amazing achievement and kudos for sticking with the training during these difficult times.
Perhaps you could write a short paragraph each on your Tootle experience/journey so far with the club that we can share in our June newsletter to recognise your achievement but also to inspire others?
  • Thank you for all the encouragement, both here on the forum and to the CCA-ers we bumped into on the day. Both Claire and Paula completed their rides, and at very decent speeds too (well up to club run pace).

I know there will be a full write up in the next CCA newsletter, so be sure to look out for that.
