Club events during Lockdown (updated11th Jan 2021)

edited January 2021 in General
All,

In line with the latest Government Guidelines as of 5th Nov 2020 there will be no organised club rides or other group activities until 2nd Dec. We will regularly monitor the situation and BC guidelines and as always any relevant updates will be posted on the website https://ccashwell.co.uk/129/Covid-19

Current guidelines allow 1 person to exercise outdoors with 1 other person (either from the same or a different household) and therefore if you are looking for a cycling buddy, then do continue to post on the forum. If you are looking for some inspiration for routes then the members section of the website has a good inventory https://ccashwell.co.uk/106/Local-Routes or please just reach out and ask.

We will also be looking to put out new routes and tips for the winter over the coming weeks/months to help keep people on their bikes and on their turbos!

The club also now has a great virtual community and will continue to organise regular Zwift rides/meet ups and participate in online races. Again we would encourage you to reach out to other members and organise meet ups.

Happy Cycling from Your Committee.

  • All,

Following the end of lockdown number 2 on Dec 2nd, i'm sure that you will all be aware that Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire/Cambridgeshire are all now in Tier 2. Based on this and further guidance from BC the committee are pleased to advise that outdoor club rides can now be resumed in line with BC and Government guidelines:

    - Club, group and recreation programme activities can resume in England, and should still be limited to six riders.

    - Clubs and groups are now able to ride ‘one metre plus mitigations’ apart in all circumstances, rather than having to maintain a two metre gap. The 'mitigations' listed by the UK Government include being outdoors and being side-to-side (avoiding face-to-face contact), both of which are achieved in group riding.

    - Multiple groups of six are permitted to begin their rides at the same location, however groups should be kept wholly separate, start times should be staggered and they should take different routes if possible to prevent groups from merging together during the ride.

    - Social interaction before and after group rides should be extremely limited and only take place in line with legal gathering limits and other relevant restrictions. Groups from ‘Medium’ (Tier 1) or ‘High’ (Tier 2) areas should not stop for a break while in a ‘Very high’ (Tier 3) area.

    - Outdoor coach-led activity can take place in groups of up to 30 participants, including coaches, per session.

    - At the present time indoor coaching sessions for adults cannot take place within Tier 2 or 3.

  • All,

Apologies for the delay in updating the forum and Happy New Year to all members.

I know its difficult to keep track of what day it is at the moment but i'm sure it hasn't escaped anyone's notice that we are in another lockdown and with that it goes without saying that all club and CTT events are suspended until further notice.

However, under the new restrictions you are permitted to cycle locally with your household or 1 other person.
It may be colder and darker but we have been putting a few hints and tips and route options on the website for inspiration and motivation. Do continue to post on the forum to check in on clubmates, share any route ideas and to keep conversations going.

Please see the latest guidance from British Cycling:
