Welcome to the forum
Kings Cross PrimaBecksVier-a / Weds 4th April
On Weds eve there'll be a few members taking on the uphill climb to The Parcel Yard, the new boozer at Kings Cross station via the escalator.
Then getting home on a different kind of blue train.
Maybe a curry at Dine Bangla?
Note: the monthly club night at the Three Tuns is the day before. That's the prologue.
Topic to be covered: Ghent 6 day trip later this year.

The parcel yard? surely poor and lowly compared to the mighty Duke of York?
Ghent, Ghent, Ghent
me and Tim D were discussing Ghent the other sunday - i am a DEFFO YES!!
My initial Ghent thought is 2 nights. Fri, Sat. Am thinking of cycling over and train back at the mo: Ashwell-Calais, Thurs 130 miles. Calais-Ghent, Friday a pan-flat 100 miles (elevenses in Bergues, lunch in Diksmuide ;-)). Driving rain. Blizzards. Maybe Friday eve watch the racing: but Saturday would be the main event. Sunday, Eurostar back via Brussels I guess. My problem might be bikes on the Eurostar. I need to research.
Bicycles
If youd like to take your bike on Eurostar, here are your options:
1. Fold it up
If you can fold or dismantle your bike and place it in a bike bag with the saddle, handlebars and wheels removed, you can carry it on board yourself as part of your luggage allowance, provided the overall size is no more than 120cm in length.
2. Reserve a place for your bike on your train
On our London, Paris and Brussels routes, subject to how much space is available you can reserve a place for your bike on the train you are travelling on.
To make a reservation or find out more call us on 0844 822 5822 or visit the EuroDespatch Centre in person at St Pancras International. Charges are £30 one way and youll need to quote your Eurostar reference or show your ticket.
3. Use our registered baggage service
Our registered baggage service operates between London and Paris, Brussels and Lille. It does not guarantee that your bike will travel on the same train as you but we will do our utmost to send it on the next available service, space permitting. However, our guarantee is that your bike will be available to collect at your Eurostar destination station within 24 hours after registration.
You can book this service on the day of travel or send your bike before your journey, so it will be ready to collect when you arrive.
Charges are £25 and youll need to show your Eurostar ticket or booking reference when you register. The charge is non-refundable but subject to availability it may be exchangeable before your departure date.
Unfortunately, we can't accept tandems due to their length unless you can dismantle them so that they are the same length as an average bike.
You can find out more about our registered baggage service here or by calling 0844 822 5822.
Parking your bike
At most of our terminals*, there is parking available for your bicycle if you dont wish to take it with you on the train:
Accessing Eurostar terminals by bicycle
* Please note - there are currently no cycle parking facilities within the Paris Gare du Nord / Lille Europe Eurostar terminals.
Obviously - the easier way is to get to the Champagne Bar at St Pancras - sans velo - on the Friday morning and hit the Eurostar both ways. But I'm up for a bit of an adventure.
I'll look at a few bits and bobs and likely start a new Ghent discussion thread.
It looks like tickets have recently gone on sale - so I'm keen to just put it all to bed soon: tickets, hotel, train, boat, Tilbury-Gravesend ferry [the last public ferry before the Thames opens to the sea - keeping you as far as poss from London town].
I'm hoping the guy TIm D mentioned to me will be out of retirement - who had a party-piece, and at racing speed, put his head on his front wheel for no discernible reason.
Days: Fri 23rd, Sat 24th Nov.
Hes mid 50s now so an appearance is rather unlikely.
A Gent thread is a good idea.
I might be more 7pm-ish now.

The Boonen effect has sucked up all the odds from the other riders - you're getting some good bets. Ladbrokes - 20/1 for Peter Sagan [is he injured?]. I just don't think Boonen will do it.
Imagine: a night out - all paid for by Phillip Pozzato!
See you later
Martin too
Much obliged to the organiser; jagermeister-fuelled and with an unflinching committment to find a local pub still open at midnight on a Wednesday.
I have a feeling that the suspects will be returning to the scene of the crime again very soon. The Parcel Yard is fantastic.

By Carmello.
Realised when I got back after the ride I din't put me bibs on. Only tights.
Still under the influence of the Jager
Cycling non stop thru the night to Gent. Robbie has got the audax bug.
Getting a touring bike together (Martin and myself)
Paris to Nice in 2013.
Cheers!
