8am is good for a 100m we can be back before 3pm.
I've learnt thro the Audax rides that stopping at a cafe really helps break the ride up and helps keep the legs fresh.
Looking forward to it. I'll he on the fixed.
  • Hi, 100 mile club / steady pace ride this Saturday 28th April. All welcome.
Steady pace probably means 15 mph ish, maybe upto 16's if everyones feeling good and the weathers decent.

Meet at the Three Tuns Ashwell 8 a.m. for a prompt depart.
Cafe for stop is at 60 miles so 12- 12:30 ish hopefully. Bring food/bars/gels etc to get you to this point though obviously.
Then 40 miles home so back for 3:30 - 4pm ish I guess.

    Heres the route:

Mostly flat, steady climb in the middle before lunch, fun descent from Balsham after lunch.

Any questions shout... otherwise see you there.
  • p.s. if you have a Garmin please download the route from web link above... mines a bit dodgy so would be good to have some backup...
  • Downloaded and saved as tcx in 'bike hike.co.uk' as Shaun advices for garmin 705
  • Thanks for the route, Stef. On me Garmin. See you Saturday.
  • weather forecast better than it was earlier in the week. currently looks dry all day but i'd bring a packable rain cape just in case...
dont forget other essentials: money for lunch or coffee, bars/gels and drinks, sense of humour, bike etc

see you 8 a.m. tomorrow (Saturday) at Three Tunns

Strangely enjoyable, despite feeling like Mr Wet from Wetville on a very wet day!!

And of course having 2 of the five punctures we suffered

Oh, and the CO2 cannister blowing up in my face, while putting my finger over it trying to stop the gas from escaping, thus freezing my finger to the cannister -doh!

Oh, apologies to Shaun too who flatted, as he came back to see I was ok with puncture number 2

But- at least I never went legging back to cafe looking for my shades, that were still on his head (Vic!)

Major beans on toast, omelettes and a bacon and egg butty for Roger of epic proportion at Tubby T's ( ?)

    Mostly uneventful then!

Sense of humour and banter remained intact throughout the rain- drenched peloton

Cheers for route Steff- I was somewhat disappointed Robbie only managed 95 miles on the front tho!

Well done one and all- heads up for Gino on his first 100 miler!
  • As they say. It's in the legs. Glad we went yesterday and not today (Sunday).
When is this grey and rain going to go away! Still... there's a hose pipe ban.
Enjoyed the ride. New roads and new places.
