London get-together: Weds 20th June, 5:30pm @ The Parcel Yard, KingsX

edited June 2012 in General
I'll be at The Parcel Yard pub above King's Cross next Wednesday, 20th June, from about 5.30pm - til just after 9pm. If any CCA members fancy a catch-up?

I am up for a chat about the November Ghent trip with anyone who's going - and other topics such as; Wiggo's chances, Andy Schleck's mysterious form [I've got a conspiracy theory], to wish any LEJOGgers bon chance, plans for 2013 [oh yes.], Mark Cavendish shampoo ad, most fanciable non-Italian bloke or Boonen in the TdF, ALDI cycling socks quality [sneak preview verdict:very good!], my budget touring bike 'solution', you name it.

I will be armed with;
- maps of Essex, Kent, France, Belgium
- pencil
- Wifi
- betting slips
- jagermeister

I hope to see some of you there

btw - I've been told Ghent tickets are being posted at the beginning of August.

    Martin,
Sorry can’t make it to Kings X.

I was rather hoping I was the only one who had seen Cavendish’s shampoo advert. Indeed I was pretending even I hadn’t seen it. However it seems it is now ‘out there’.

I wonder if he and Peta are trying to create the cycling equivalent to Posh and Becks; Cav ‘n’ Todd perhaps? A journalist has noted that he hoped Cav’s daughter would inherit her father’s ability to ride a bike and her mother’s looks and not vice versa. Perhaps a similar approach should be followed by the parents, Peta should stick to promotion and photos and Cav to winning cycling races.

Also I’m not sure a cyclist is necessarily the right person to promote hair products, afterall we hardly ever seen their hair as it is hidden by a helmet. Perhaps leg razors would be more appropriate; Mark could discover his inner goddess. This still isn’t quite working for me though...
  • I think they missed a trick not showing Chris Hoy shaving his legs in his recent Gillette ad. Nothing girly about Sir Chris's monster thighs.

Off topic and I can't justify a trip to London for a few beers either.

    Have one for me.

    Cheers

    Vic
  • Of course, the first answer is Bernie eisel: strong, dependable, symmetrical eyebrows. If you know different: parcel yard it is to fight it out.

Only just realized the clash with the weds TT. Sorry! Appreciate this might impact turnout. Ah well.

See some of you all soon
  • Martin - keen to chat about Ghent; may be selective with my conversation some of the other topics and I have no idea what MC has in mind!!

    Adam
  • lol!

It'd be great to catch-up on Ghent Adam. I'd like to get an agreed plan or two for the return journey bit. And maybe sketch out a plan for the day time over there.

Anyone with a good route or knowledge of Kent lanes out there - shout out. Gravesend–Dover stylee.
  • sorry to miss this guys.....have a great time. I am in Durham until 11th July so no can do. Martin...v.sorry but still owe you. Will put that cheque in post today and many thanks for sorting everything. Guess it's going to be a cold slog at the best but really looking forward to it. Apparently Richard is betting on some of us whimping out and begging a ride in his people carrier.
I reckon he and Martin should stand all of us drinks for the duration of the racing for such a slur on our grit and determination :-)
  • Looks like I am in London Wed
probably drop in for a jar or two
fortunately right shoulder and arm still working !

    James
  • I'll be there later due to work.
  • Would love to join but green passes for this period long since expended.

    Have fun.
  • It'd be good to see you at another get-together after Lejog and get the lowdown Adam. I might even see you mid next week when you're around the north west.

In the meantime, I look forward to seeing a few tomorrow. From about 5.30pm.

Robbie: I'm over at yer office tomorrow 2-3pm seeing Sam J. Might see ya then.
  • News just in: Maynard is coming. So add bike maintenance to conversation topics.
