Question for Geoff - Ride Leaders (or whatever they're called ? )

edited August 2012 in General
Now then Geoff,

Several months ago I saw a thread (but didn't take much notice at the time I'm afraid) about Ride Leaders or whatever they're called, who should be suitably "competent" to take the lead on club rides.

What's the score? I'm up for it

Cheers

  • I think anyone can suggest a route and take a ride, the only problem is the term " ride leader" . in the case of an accident the ride leader can find themselves in bother as happen in the rhyl disaster where 4 died and the ride leader was prosecuted.

If you have been on a ride leader course as offered by BC and others you then have indemnity insurance and legal backup if it all goes pear shapped.

Tim, im sure you are sufficiently experienced to take a ride, just dont call yourself a ride leader.

    Hope that helps
  • How about 'Navigator'? Person has responsibility for knowing a route, but not for managing the riders
  • Happy with that Tim - low key's good !

Wasn't sure if the club "needed" people to be in charge, or whatever...
