May be a little too long for me just now, i rode on the intro run last Saturday,(my new menber form is on its way) my 1st experience od a group ride and was hoping to do something a little longer this Saturday maybe around 25 to 30 miles - as i recall some comments were made after the ride that some would be up for something similar?
Kevin
I think this ride might be a bit of a jump up as there are a few steep one's here and there, but nothing that will kill.
Best to increase things gradually, as it's always nice to be able to finish what you start. If a few others wanted to do a shorter ride
you could split at Preston and then do whitwell, old knebworth, knebworth, aston.walkern, then back to ashwell. This is 34 miles and
still a nice ride.

Looks like the split is at the top of the Super Category!
yup, I'd be up for the shorter ride, and thanks for suggesting it.
See you on Saturday.
Susan
I also joined the intro ride last week and would be up for such a shorter ride. I cannot do this weekend but am around next Saturday.
Peter
There will be another intro/basic club ride next Saturday (15th) lead by Paul Wylie for anybody wanting something a bit shorter than the normal club run.
Cheers for the routes, both look like cracking rides on what's going to be a glorious sunny day !
All good practice for the club hill climb too !
See you in the morning,

Fourteen(ish) of us opted for the full 49 and headed off for a tour of the lanes around hitchin that was even more mysterious that last week's Essex surprise! A good if bordering on tough at times route that had very little flat and more up than downhill! Particularly liked the cliff face near Watton - where did that come from !!!!
After two split in Cromer the rest of us headed off through throcking and encountered the wrong end of a combine ! Visibility dropped to zero and it was like cycling through a Saharan sandstorm! Basically it was just eyes shut and hope for the best!
Suitably covered in straw debris we continued on for the almost obligatory sprint down slip end. Cracking one it was too although maybe starting it just after the right turn down from Sandon was a little early! Close run thing at the end but just won (I think) by 'i'm definately not sprinting today' Nathaniel !
Back to the tuns for much needed refreshments with 49 miles on the clock @ 16avg.
Thanks to PaulS for a great route!

They use the dark side and cooked breakfasts to slow me down
Great to be out in the sunshine
Thanks for a new route
Sat Nav calling on the direct route from Cromer ( and more food )
Even tougher than a DJ route - but alot drier :-)

I managed to steal a few points from Fynn on a couple of the hills and despite leading everyone out, managed to stay ahead on the sprint to the 505. Track specialist Rebecca was stalking me all the way though and had she had a big ring would have probably have taken it.
35 miles past without incident, apart from some dropped keys and dodging potholes through the forest section!
We returned back to the 3t's with an average of 15mph
Thanks to Pauls for the original route choice and everyone in our group for making it a Great ride.

One funny moment, was waiting for our only technical on the ride. Over a period of
10 minutes 3 of us updating the the group parked up the road that our fellow rider was
still pumping his tyre up(it was funny at the time - honest).
TIP - If you haven't got quick release calipers put the wheel back on, then pump.
Nathans Sprint training in Datchworth High Street while all of us had a 5 minute breather
was also quite amusing. 10 out of 10 for enthusiasm young man.
Good feedback from everyone on the route, despite the heart rates yo-yoing for the majority of the ride.
I always thought Saturday was an easier option than the Sunday ride, but as David pointed out "Saturday is
the new Sunday." Hope to get out again with you all this coming Saturday.
