Saturday 2nd March 9.30am club ride

edited February 2013 in Club runs
Supposedly its the second day of spring this Saturday but it still looks like its going to be pretty nippy !

So, as we didn't do it last week due to the white stuff falling from the sky we will try again to go in a southerly direction and do: Ashwell, Ardley, Dane End, Bennington, Walkern, Ashwell (37mile)

See you at the Tuns,

  • Looks like a nice route, hopefully I'll see you there. If it's too fast for me I'll take a short cut!

  • Just a quick note to thank Steve, John and the chap who gave me a THIRD inner tube (sorry I didn't get your name) for all their help with the dreaded punctures today. I finally tracked down a tiny flint shard in the tyre that was causing all the grief after about 20 minutes of head scratching.

Thanks again guys, hope you had a good ride in the end. Top club spirit shown towards a newbie like myself.

  • As rides go, this definitely wasn't one of our better ones! In addition to Mike's we had another 4 punctures on the ride making a grand total of 7, a Saturday club record I think. So, lots of standing around in field entrances, on small triangles at road junctions and outside of a tractor showroom/outdoor goods shop in the eerily dead village of Bennington. Mind you, we did find out in one of the breaks that AdamR can identify a Rover 800 in a matter of milliseconds.

Pace was pretty good once wide did get going, mainly to try and warm our frozen hands and feet.

Anyway, in blitz spirit we battled through all of the above route and got back to the Tuns at 1.15pm. Another record I think.

38miles at 15 for our final stats. And in answer to the important question of the day -3 Fahrenheit is -19.44 Celsius.

See you next week for hopefully something much better!

  • Was an enjoyable route, but as discussed with David during the ride I think a number of the group could do with Tim's "group riding training session".
We were definitly not a pretty sight today.
If you run it again Tim, can we have a anonymous nominations list :)

  • I do cover group riding skills at Letchworth on the alternate Tuesday evenings and all adult club members are welcome. See the Silverstone thread for details.
