Harp Hilly Hundred - Sun 3rd March

edited February 2013 in Club runs
Harp Hilly Hundred was postponed from January due to arctic weather conditions and rescheduled to next Sunday. Mercifully, the forecast is for milder weather than this weekend

Online entry has now closed, but you can still enter on the day (£10). Approx 60miles with 1200m ascent in the Chilterns ... for details see http://www.harphillyhundred.org.uk/

  • Forecast is not looking too bad at all - warming up from 3 to 6 degrees through the morning, with hardly any wind or chance of rain

Best of all, there will be a tea station after Aston Hill. This is for CCA riders only and will be hosted by our v own endurance (and tea) specialist, Mr Bonney

    Bring it on!
  • Think I might join this one - what time are you planning to be at ride HQ?
  • Registration desk opens 8:30. (Nice cosy clubhouse and they did tea/coffee etc last time, before and after the event.)

Be great to see you there, Andrew. 1st riders set off at 9:00

4 out for CCA (self, Alistair, MC and Nigel. Not sure what happened to Andrew and Nathan?!)

I logged 16.2mph (though that's based on average moving time, rather than total time, which is a bad habit that I'm going to kick)

64 miles with 1450m ascent, including Aston Hill, Bison Hill and Ivinghoe Beacon. I ache, but it was a great atmosphere and the views were worth it

That freshly polished Harp Hilly Shield glimmered in the clubhouse, for all to see. Next year we really should take a big team down there and win it. C'mon CCA
  • Good ride, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Considerable thanks to Shaun for the private Ashwell tea stop when it was certainly needed.
Great place to ride the Chilterns, I will be very sad to miss the 100 this year.
    Alistair
  • Yes, echo the above comments, thanks Shaun for the cuppa ;-) I had a hair brain idea to ride home so I clocked 16 mph, 90 miles and 7,170 ft of climbing, was glad to get in :-)
  • Well done all.....
I used to live near Whipsnade Zoo so I too miss the Chilterns..funny how where you live affects your riding...guess we're used to the wind more!
Good ride at 16's on a cold morning like that with all those climbs..

Obviously I was sad not to be riding the Harp Hilly but the consolation prize was watching the others do a good time on a hilly course. And my pleasure providing half-time refreshments at the top of Aston Hill :)
  • Oh Sean...so sorry to hear of your injury..SO frustrating...hope things get better real soon.
  • Breaking news: Verulam won the Harp Hilly Shield (again)

Definitely time that another club gave them something to worry about
