Go-Ride Clubmark Accreditation Award

edited September 2013 in General
Hi all,

I am delighted to announce that the club has been awarded the Go-Ride Clubmark Accreditation. Clubmark is Sports England's cross sport quality accreditation for clubs with junior sections. Go-Ride is of course British Cycling's version.

This has been achieved through hard work by a number of club volunteers. Geoff kicked off the process and Richard Maynard and Stewart Woolsey all contributed to the compiling the file of evidence we had to produce. Club coaches and committee members all had to do their bit to update and refine our policies, procedures and paperwork.

As a result of this hard work the youth section has grown so much over the last year we now have a waiting list of 25 for the grass track sessions, the Wednesday cyclo-cross sessions are full and we now have more youth than senior members competing in the sport. There are only 14 other Accredited Go-Ride clubs in the Region.

Well done all,
Mark.

  • That's brilliant news. Well done Geoff, Mark, Richard and Stewart!
  • Indeed this is great news. Well done to all concerned.

Having this focus on young riders benefits us across the whole club, for example 33 CCA riders are members of the Eastern Cyclocross League; I am sure a fair few of those are there because their children are racing!

  • Great - well done Mark, Geoff, Richard and Stewart and all others. I know there was loads of paperwork involved, thanks for persevering and getting the club this significant recognition and accreditation.
  • This is great news. I think this deserves a mention in the local press
  • Really well done Mark especially.....for those who don't know, the paperwork is mind blowingly tedious. I may have started this, but I doubt I could have finished it.

More than mere paperwork however, this is a recognition of how far this club has come. Clubmark recognition opens all the funding and support doors and puts our club in a preferential position should we need help to grow and develop.

The good work all the coaches, parents and supporters do every week has grown the club and set it on the pathway to becoming one of the best in the region if not the country.

I was delighted to see the number of coaches working with four separate groups last night. there must have been 40-50 riders all having fun and learning on the last Thursday session of 2013.

Let's round off the season of grass track with a brilliant days racing both fixed track and geared go-ride racing on Saturday 14th Sept. Tomorrow.
Racing starts at 1.00pm and sign on at 12noon in Ashwell at OUR track. See you all there. Come and support the racing CCA members and cheer on our own riders.
  • Fantastic news - well done to everyone who has made this possible!
