  • Yes I know a nice little loop from Royston, upto Therfield, Reed, Barkway, Barley and drop back into Royston. I can be about for Sunday morning for a couple hours.

  • unfortunately wont be about sunday off to london for the day!, is there any way you could post the route up on here ?
  • Briory lane (bridleway) up to Therfield then road it to Reed, into Reed village, across the joint (off road) into Barkway then take the Road to Barley approx half a mile out of the village go through Cokenach estate which will be on your right, once you get to the end turn left and head to Barley and go down to the end of lane turn left and then right into smiths end lane, at the end of lane (opp Horseshoe farm) take the flint track which will eventually bring you out onto Royston road (black dutch barn) turn left and on your right you will see a track go up there and that runs along side of Burloes estate, at the top of the field turn left duck into some trees and it will bring you outside Sharftsbury House/Hill.
I hope you don't find this to long winded, but I don't do nancy garmins/map my ride. P.s the dutch barn may not be still standing as I haven't been out that way for a few years. The best way would be to get yourself a Os map, as there's loads of rides out that way.

    Good luck

  • thankyou will give that a go appreciate it!
  • Be careful if you do go up the bridleway from Briary Lane to Therfield - the hedges at the start up to the water station were recently cut and the track is covered with thorny twigs...
  • thanks for the heads up timmer i will be going past there on saturday so will keep an eye out !
  • well i went out for the first proper ride out on my bike ended up riding for 8 miles the briory lane to therfield bridleway. was very wet and sloppy mud pretty much all the way there! was a workout but enjoyed it!
