What time are you out on Saturday? I might join you.

The Kraken has allowed me a 2 day pass, so happy to take the helm on Sunday, weather permitting (BBC current forecast is wet and 25mph SW winds).

For Sunday was thinking flat route based on 2 Bridges...G. Morden, Wrestlingworth, Everton, Blunham, Moggerhanger, Northill, Old Warden, Broom, Langford, Hinxworth... 35miles @ 16mph. Steady as she goes ye swabs!

Glad your recovery is on the way !
I will go with Sat 09.30 lot - see who is there
2 pirates for the old 1,2 would be good

    Thanks for picking up Sunday
So crew on deck 09.30 Sun please for a flat route - you deserve it after last week

  • Weather set fair for a Saturday voyage, just need to avoid last minute rumblings from the Kraken.

Definitely will take the Sunday ride. I intend to run a tight ship, so be prepared to swash your buckles, batten down the hatches and take on the elements.

Sprint gallop at my discretion, depending upon where Pistol Pete is on deck!

    Thank 'ee Cap'n.

I've been very lucky to be able to learn the black arts from such worthy ne'er do wells as you and Cut-Throat Jake.

Fuelling up nicely for the weekend with electrolyte drink Cotes de Gascogne and carb loaded Chicken Jalfresi

Dust off your helmet, blow up your mizzen and prepare to grapple with your iron to board rival ship

All hands on deck! Cap'n stranded beneath the duvet so I have the helm today.

35 miles @ 15-16mph, nice and steady on a flat route.

    See you there

    FD
  • 35miles @ 16.1mph average. Exactly as it says on the tin.

Just 3 amigos out in the wind and rain
All other pirates didn't fancy the pain

No sign of Cap'n Pugwash or Pistol Pete
Lying in bed, buried under a sheet

The prospect of a ride an insufficient carrot
For the Cap'n, hungover, as sick as his parrot

Likewise Cut Throat Jake and Big Nick
Even Tony the Bullet must have been sick

FD, Red Van Jamie and Cervelo Tom
Battled the conditions, even with aplomb

Especially quick at eighteens to Blunham
The wind then blew, but the miles we done 'em

While Jamie and Tom on the front did pound
FD chewed his stem, nose to the ground

Out on the roads, good to be alive
We ticked off rules nine and particularly five!

    FD
  • Well done the mighty 3 !
Just did a long rhyme, but lost it
    Oh well back to bed
    See you next week

For those not in the know:

Rule#9 - if you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a bad*ss. Period.

Fair-weather riding is a luxury reserved for Sunday afternoons and wide boulevards. Those who ride in foul weather – be it cold, wet, or inordinately hot – are members of a special club of riders who, on the morning of a big ride, pull back the curtain to check the weather and, upon seeing rain falling from the skies, allow a wry smile to spread across their face. This is a rider who loves the work.

Rule#5 - too rude to repeat here!

Good ride today. No resting in the bunch when there are only 3 of us. Gutted that the Cake stops at Shuttleworth and Jordan's mill both were vito'd by my eager companions. Hope your hub rattling is nothing serious Tom.

Grovelled back from Langford to Letchworth to a lower average than those on the short ride! 15.2mph and 44m.

Until next time when hopefully it's less breezy.
