  • Ahoy Cap'n and crew mates

Likely to be AWOL ashore this Sunday and out Saturday instead.

The Kraken has got us invited out to a birthday celebration on Saturday night...involving a Thai restaurant (good practice for next week) and barrels of grog.

Went out today solo...in case of 'incapacitation' on Sunday morning....53 miles same as last week @ 16mph.... head into the wind and north via Potton to Caxton, blown east to Elmdon, grovel back from Chishill. Didn't see a soul on the open seas.....

    Ahoy!

Just in from an evening's festivities.

Upon which direction is the Black Pig's compass set?

  • Hi James

Have a good ride. I haven't disappeared, am just recovering from accident (waves, not cycling). Will try and go to Maynards for coffee if that's ok.

  • Pirates everywhere today....too many for 1 ride, so split into 2 groups of nine, Cap'n Pugwash headed south and Cut Throat Jake headed north.

The latter group went out to Willington, via Everton, then blown back through Cople, Old Warden and up the hill to Langford water tower. I made it 42 miles at 16.9mph...then back to the Maynards Cafe for coffee and cake in the sun drenched garden.

Thanks for the route Andy and company everyone. A great day to be out on the bike.

  • the Black Pig 1 and 2 set sail into the sunshine
Pugwash set sail for Woburn and Sharpenhoe
    51 miles at 16.3mph - I think
rotary bliss was the order of the day into the breeze
blown back feeling like a pro for 10 to 20 miles - bliss
Captain lost a spoke ( some say happened years ago )
lead them back with a bent wheel for 10 miles, "the bullet" to do a 100 yard dash
treachery to make a pirate proud

great day , good fun, kept together including the hills
    magnificent

PS crew asked for Chilterns once a month,....... let it be so
  • Two ships, Captain! That makes you a Commodore!
  • your once, twice, three times a lady

    that's why I'm easy........easy like a Sunday morning

Sail on down the line / About a half a mile or so / And I don't really wanna know / Where you're going / Maybe once or twice.

Commodore has a ring to it !

    Commodore Pugwash
  • Congratulations on your promotion James.

If our numbers keep on growing, you will soon make Rear Admiral.....

  • Good numbers out and a choice of styles, Nice Chiltern ride at 51.7 miles, 16.6 average, peeled off for lamb in anchovy crust rather than being left to chew the bone. Sprints like Thai continue to elude me
  • great ride great route, here here for the Chilterns monthly only on an easterly though
