Saturday 3rd May 9.30am club ride

edited May 2014 in Club runs
As tempting as the amazing cakes and huge sausage sarnies are, I've not got time this Saturday to do a ride to the Blue Egg.

So, there will be a standard 9.30 club ride in addition to JohnM's Egg ride. Going to try out a bit of a new route, so we may get lost in the wilderness between Ashwell and Fowlmere.....

  • We'll try and bring you some cake back David..... but we may eat on the way home.

    Have a good one...
  • ooooh...squashed and sweaty cake in John's back pockets.....bet you can't wait to get that David!! :-)
  • Sounds delicious :-)
  • Thanks David, dave and I will meet you at the Sandon turning on the Wallington road. See you then!
  • see you in the morning
  • Great Adam, you can help me navigate after the wiggly road cos that's where the map in my head ends!!

See you at the Sandon turn Dave & Jenny.
  • " the long and winding road"
  • Nice looking route without too many climbs.
  • That looks remarkably like Cap'n Pugwash's 'turn left' route from a couple of weeks back. Lovely road from Nuthampstead past the Woodman to Langley. Watch out for Chris the Rhea!
  • Was indeed the left turn route, or a variation of anyways.

Good turnout of non-egg ears and remarkably we didn't get lost at all. Not sure if this was down to navigator skill or just blind luck :)

The long and winding road was indeed awesome again and even better as MarkW gave us a masterclass in cornering skills.

Just one casualty from the ride, Dave's smart phone made a bit for freedom on the downhill from Heydon & was definitely not happy from the drop onto tarmac at 30mph or being driven over by a car ! Hope you can bring it back to life....

Flat and fast on the way back & a major and minor sprint gave us a total of 42 @ 16.5

    Great stuff!
