CC Ashwell 10th Anniversary Tour of Belgium, 17-19 Sept 2010
The keen eyed amongst you will have noticed the calendar has recently updated. The Club's 10th anniversary celebrations will now be done on the Club's trip to Belgium and the end of year Christmas party and prize giving:
The CC Ashwell 10th Anniversary Tour of Belgium, 'Retreat to Dunkirk'.
Friday 17th - Sunday 19th September 2010
2 night stay [Fri, Sat] in the town of Diksmuide, in the heart of Belgium cycling territory, back Sunday early evening.
This great value trip [roughly £200-250 including transport, hotel, food, drink!?] will likely be made of two groups; Club Run and Middle Group speeds, depending on the numbers and need for speed. A great way to end the season and catch up with other members you might not see too often. This year is extra special; being the 10th anniversary of the Club. Three rides in the three days will take in parts of routes from the Classics including the hills, long breezy plains, cobbles and historical sights and landmarks and fine Belgian cuisine and beer.
Basic agenda;
Friday 17th, early start drive via Eurotunnel, arrive Diksmuide for lunch, afternoon 50-60 mile reconnoitre ride of the surrounding area.
Saturday 18th, full day 85 mile randonee, taking in the hills of Mont Des Cats, Mont Noir, Mont Cassel and the Kemmelberg - the infamous cobbled hill that features on the Gent-Wevelgem Classic. This great ride includes a lunch stop at Mont Cassel.
Sunday 19th, morning recovery ride 35-40 miles, returning to Ashwell early evening.

this gives 10 - 11 places with bikes
there has been alot of interest expressed this year
but the exchange rate has gone against us
So
will need a £50 deposit to secure your place
will keep place for 2 weeks to receive a deposit
does anyone have a vehicle that can also take 4+ bikes ?
( suspect nos will be above 10 this year )
will check out prices to confirm soon
but fairly sure will be £260+ this year ( £240 last year )
( does vary according to nos in vehicles )
includes travel /half board meals /en suite hotel room / free history tour and guide
lunch and drinks extra
so £300 to £350 max ( depending if you follow the " cheeky one " peleton ) all in
probably will also be a tour shirt ( got to be done ) extra
This is a fantastic weekend not to be missed
The stories are part of CCA folklore
Be there or be square :-)
James
PS any positive balance remaining goes to club funds for the grass track
James, will you be at pub for deposit tomorrow?

Ultra Pro Bling Bling top for me Skelders. Do they do one in carbon?
We are also now at 12 riders - I have a car for 4 and can have 4 bike carriers on the roof, but I'll have to check with the wife to see if I can have it for that weekend.
Please can you put me down for a place (thats if there is any spaces left?)
Sounds a great trip.
Andy Hartley
Sorry please cancel my request as above. Thanks anyway.

will the hotel be big enough for Team CCA??
So long as my car passes it's MOT it can manage at least 3 bikes without a roof rack AND it is left hand drive. (It does drink fuel though).

Mr Bartlett, where art thou???
