Plomesgate Grass Track - Report
It was a great day of racing for the CCA youth on Sunday, with 9 riders and one ex rider Andrew Leveton - now 400m Grass Track National Champ!
In the U10s, Mark Lightfoot and Joesph Hadsley both put in excellent performances. Mark won the U10's omnium and particularly showed his skill in the Bristow Devil where he got 5 points. Joseph also raced very well too, and I think he was 3rd overall.
In the U12s, Adam Lightfoot, James Fraser and Harley Pell all raced well. Adam, like his brother won the omnium and James came 3rd in a very competitive U12 race. Adam put in a very quick time for the 1 lap TT and James also did well in the Bristow Devil getting 3 points. Harley also raced very well, after a very hard weekend of cycling in London and Newmarket.
In the U14s, myself and Connor were the only Ashwell riders racing in a field of 7 riders. Overall I came 1st - which I was very pleased about! My favourite race was the Devil (normal Devil), as this was against the U16 riders too and I stayed in the race for a lot longer than I thought and ended up beating a few U16s. Connor also raced very well, having a great race in the handicap which he came 2nd in!
In the U16s, Ollie Woolsley and Henry Skelding both raced. Ollie had a frustrating day, crashing and damaging his spokes during a race. Despite this he still raced well with his main rival James Jackson from Colchester, and without the incidents I'm sure he would have got a podium place. Henry raced well again, in his 2nd U16 race, showing good work in the 6 lap scratch pushing hard at the front.
Well Done to all CCA riders, It was a great event. Simon Daw, who crashed in the final race is OK, albeit with some broken bones.
