  • The current weather forecast suggests we ride with caution in the morning; misty on them thar hills.

    See you all there.
  • Yo ho Cap'n Shirker and working crew

Away on Saturday night/ Sunday morning so AWOL again this week.

Looks like my choices are risking the rain tomorrow and/or ride Sunday PM

Enjoy, stay safe and blow your foghorns on Sunday!

  • AWOL shirker still on the grog
A crew member worthy of the black pig
Captain will carry the burden again
Hoist the main sail, into the unknown we venture
Beware the call of the duvet, it leaves a feeling of regret.

  • Solo voyage today. Circuit in the lanes from Hitchin home port to Cople 40 miles @ 16.5mph.

Stayed bone dry which was a bonus. Throat also bone dry.

Now time to put that right with some rehydration therapy.......

  • I'm not coming out now - sorry!
  • loop out to St Neots and back
the lost boy number is increasing ( mainly drinking activities ), but still a fine crew
about 40 miles at about 16.5 - 17 mph as mainly flat

good discussion about the merits of mud guards v none
    and the answer is....
depends if you want to break down just before the finish line due to jammed wheels or not :-)
    how embarrassing !
Still whats goes on tour stays on tour , so no worries

Captain made the crew work for the win
    ( honorable second )
oh and Mick did all the work ( until above )

tick tock , time to go
    CH
  • Yo Ho
Shame about yet another dishonourable second, Cap'n
Scant reward for shirking at the back until the final mile
    Is James2 the new Pete2?
Back next week hopefully (with mudguards)

Pete 2 was present - took his spot
    ( now Pete nowhere )
new kid on the block won
have to be kind to begin with
( have loads of points in hand )
several lost boys to return next week, guns at the ready !

Captain still seen in green ( 2014)

    CH

PS clocks change end of the month - winter rules apply
  • Yo Ho
Has the change of name and picture made you go soft, Cap'n?!
Gifting' the treasure to a newbie - unheard of for a pirate
Good to hear PeteNowhere is back on board
The Lost Boys to make a return
Tick Tick the Crocodile soon gets an extra hour in bed, nice and light at 9.30 for the winter months
Time for another evening knees up?

    FD
  • The mudguards have been truly battened down so will be seeking revenge, just hope it rains next time out, CH bringing up the rear. now there's a thought :-@
  • Not really a newbie, just new to the 0930 ride! Lol! I promise to be more respectful to my elders in the future! :-D
  • Using your track skills and sheer speed to outmanoeuvre the wily Cap'n, eh Andy?

    Glad to hear it!

    FD
  • Mick started for land with a long and superb lead out only to be scuttled by a mechanical
The captain as we know thrives on misfortune of others and wheezed his way past in Andys hour of need.
Then like a landlubber with a belly full of grog on a good night out in the docks swayed around at the front, elbows out, preventing passage
Andy only need set a course true and straight for port and the captain was cast adrift and left only with tales of what could have been
As for me? I was left wondering if mudguards are a good idea? Do you put eggs in a fish pie? could a heated suit be invented that worked on a bike? and what the hell did that cheerleader have for lunch?
  • The Cap'n has had to settle for second several times recently.
Tick Tock waits for no man.
First the Beancounter regularly beat him to the finish
Now it's Tony the Bullet ( time he went for another cruise to lose some top end speed)
And Sunday it was Sgt Pain
Soon the Lost Boys will return to Neverland
Cap'n needs to raise his game (rather than his glass)!

    FD
  • Green goes to the most consistent
The lost boys come and go, but Captain remains on deck and over the line
mechanical failure ( well mud guards ) , not declaring the finish line, drafting........all fair game to the Captain

Rule 1 never trust the Captain
Rule 2 no ticking clocks allowed
Rule 3 pies and beer for carb loading
Rule 4 you can not be serious

    CH

PS yes another training camp is due. lets discuss on Sunday. Venue and fuel type, with ball and chain.
PPS thanks for the encouragement and support
  • Rule 5 there are no rules
