Calling all piratical shirkers, workers, dieters, lost boys and duvet skirmishers,

An extra hour's lie-in this week, thanks to Tick Tock.

Last week was hills and thrills,

Perhaps set the Black Pig for calmer northern waters - fat burning, instead of gurning?

    See you on deck

    The Starving Dutchman
  • Tick tock, tick Tock
back an hour goes the clock

the duvet is a warm affair
spring to arms without a care

    ..........oops

feel free to set the route FD
just make sure there is time for a stop

    Hook.......Captain you know
  • Yo Ho

Steady, Cap'n, don't capsize the ship....

Depending on the mood, suggest we either:

1/ head north for flatter seas - 40miles with Haslingfield Hill the only test or
2/ head east into the hills - 40 miles to Buckland, Nuthampstead, Langley, Chrishall..back via Fowlmere, Melbourn, Steeple.

    Starving Dutchman
  • your shout
    happy day :-)
3 tuns at 6pm tonight if you are free

    carb loading though !
  • Yo Ho

HEAD NORTH TO WARESELEY, GRANSDENS, BOURN ETC.........my 'SHOUT' geddit?!!

Nice flat, fat-burner for the Paleo Pirates, poets, dreamers, shirkers, misfits, lost boys, come one and all

40 steady miles @ 16-17mph of fun and friendship, while getting fit and shifting the calories

Cap'n on the front into the wind on return....overcoming his allergy to the breeze? Pigs may fly.....

Look forward to seeing you all

  • No breeze behind you
Don't loose too much weight !
  • Don't worry Cap'n,

The Flying Barndoor will still be here to provide you with ample shelter for a while

But the low carb (no grog) diet means I'll need to occasionally sit in and take your usual spot at the back

Just show your face at the front once in a while outside the final 200 yards

You'll soon be as fit as the Bullet and Sarge

Warmed up with a 30 mile hilly route in the sunshine around Preston, Whitwell, Kimpton, Breachwood Green etc

A short, but torturous foray into the hills for yours truly, but as Eddy says, 'don't buy upgrades, ride up grades'.

    Nice and flat tomorrow then!

  • Hi James and John, I would like to join you, if that's ok. Rupert
  • Morning Rupert - good to hear from you after such a long time.

Hope all OK and of course it will be a pleasure to have you along today.

Another Lost Boy to return to Neverland - Cap'n Hook will be pleased!

  • Thanks to all for a great ride today and also to James and John FD for organising it (and for coffee afterwards).
Good to be out on a bike again and thank you for your company. I am not entirely sure where we actually went on our route but the speed and distance overall were as advertised.
Look forward to hearing how the new diet regime works out.

    Yo Ho

8 crew out today. Plenty of Lost Boys back in Neverland. An ever changing crew to tow the Cap'n along. Rupert strong as ever, despite a summer off the bike and in the glider. He was flying.....!

Confirm 43 miles @ 16.8mph, but i finished at least 3mins after the bunch. I crawled in to Ashwell @ 9mph, so group nearer 17mph overall for the ride. First 25 miles averaged 18mph with wind up (winding me up!)

Sgt Pain won the sprint, James2 usual spot, however null and void as no sprinting after Tick Tock goes back and Winter Rules apply.

Didn't actally witness the sprint. The Man with the Hammer whacked me around the head at Steeple Morden.

Buccaneer language required from Statler in the balcony, but no sign of Wardorf this week.

Route was Wrestlingworth, Abbotsley, Caxton, Bourn, Gt Eversden, Haslingfield, Barrington, Meldreth, Bassingbourm.

Sick as a parrot indeed - after I got home. Then crawled under a blanket, lay on the bed and promptly slept for 2 hours...only NOW does Sarge tell me not to exercise during the first 2 weeks of this no carb effort.

A pirate cannot live on seeds and nuts and be expected to pull on the oars. Totally drained today, nothing left.

Hope Sgt Pain is right about all this.....

    Polly (not dead, just resting)
  • This parrot is dead !
  • Norwegian blue ..... Or orange perhaps
  • Not dead.

Just stunned and pining for the polders and the Zuider Zee.....

    Time for the perch.
