Sunday 09.30 ride -it's done

edited November 2014 in Club runs
Ahoy fellow travellers

Looks like we are going to get a wet one on Sunday
So 35 mile flat route to soften the blow to winter riding

Let the wind blow High, Let the wind blow low
Through the streets in my kilt I'll go
All the lassies say hello
"Donald where's your Trousers!?"

Winter gear required

  • Hi John Flailing Dutchman

Does the Jermyn Street shop near your office have an actual classic red C60 Colnago in the shop?

    Thanks

    Rupert
  • Hi Rupert

Unfortunately not, they only have it in stealth black. Even worse it has Shimano group set on it. A scandal on an Italian Classic! They may have one in their main Farringdon shop - called Bespoke.

Wet weather ahead. Great weather for ducks.

Full mudguards are an excellent way to keep your crew mates from getting mud in their eye.

Write a nice letter to Santa to bring you some if you're skint.

The Cap'n is exempt as he's only ever at the back anyway.

  • Will judge distance depending on conditions
The wetter the shorter it will be
    But righteous feeling afterwards guaranteed

    See you 09.30

  • Hi Singing Flailing Dutchman

The Farringdon branch don't have a red Colnago C60 either so if you see one in Jermyn street please let me know. Thank you.

  • Yo Ho Rupert

Given tomorrow's forecast you should forget the classic red Colnago

And bring a yellow submarine instead.....

    ....run silent, run deep.

    Just singing in the rain
    What a glorious feeling
    I'm happy again
    I'm laughing at clouds
    So dark up above
    The sun's in my heart
    And I'm ready for love

You'll be lucky to command a couple of boats tomorrow

Numbers more likely to be just the Owl and the Pussycat

In case you're dithering this morning:

9/ If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a bada*s. Period. Fair-weather riding is a luxury reserved for Sunday afternoons and wide boulevards. Those who ride in foul weather – be it cold, wet, or inordinately hot – are members of a special club of riders who, on the morning of a big ride, pull back the curtain to check the weather and, upon seeing rain falling from the skies, allow a wry smile to spread across their face. This is a rider who loves the work.

So come and catch some sea spray on the Black Pig, get fit and have fun!

  • Lonely rivers flow to the sea, to the sea
To the open arms of the sea
Lonely rivers sigh, "Wait for me, wait for me"
"I'll be coming home, wait for me!"

    the righteous brothers set sail
Into the eye of the storm
Coffee stop back at the turbo shirkers
The two jack ass onto the ark to greet Noah

Good to clear the head and the soul
Bet you feel guilty now :-)

Bring back that lovin' feelin', Whoa, that lovin' feelin'
Bring back that lovin' feelin', 'Cause it's gone...gone...

Just the Righteous Brothers, aka Maverick and Mothergoose, to man the bilge pumps today...we were Top Guns

The Ashwell clock struck 9.30am, but the High Street was deserted..

....off sailed the Owl and the Pussy Cat in their beautiful Black Pig boat

We sailed away for a year and a day to the land where the Bong Tree grows

...er, actually 24 miles @ 15.5mph to Wimpole, but worth 50 miles in that deluge. Character building?!

Returned to find the Smug Brothers watching TV on their turbos in the garage. Smugs and mugs.

Coffee, chat and laughs to ward off the chills.

See you all next week? Don't forget to ask Santa for mudguards and rain jackets. Oh, and some bottle!

  • Not entirely sure what you're all talking about, but I didn't see anybody out at 9am either. CCA obviously doesn't like the rain...
  • you would not say that Will if you saw the turn out at Ipswich X today. Very nasty but another good showing from CCA.

    Hi Will

It was so horrible today that I left the Fratello at home and took out the Wet Winter Training Bike for a rare outing.

The thing is...I really enjoyed myself. Loved being out on the bike, even for a short ride.

Would have kicked myself if I hadn't gone out, hence the righteous feeling!

Don't worry if you don't know what we're talking about, neither do we! All part of the fun.

    The Cap'n means:

We're just trying to be friendly
So come and Hey, hey, we're the monkees
And people say we monkey around,
    But we're too busy singing
    To put anybody down....
