    Yo Ho buccaneers

Won't be out, giving the Flying Dutchwoman a well-deserved rest on Mother's Day.

Pleased to see that this ride is named after Mother Dutchwoman - MD

Instead, hill interval training up and down the stairs supplying the Flying Dutchwoman with cups of tea and breakfast in bed.

Followed by heat acclimatisation training in front of the stove, cooking a roast dinner.

Finally, individual time 'trial', having my patience 'tested', against the clock. Timekeeper: Flying Dutchwoman.

Given the weather forecast is for a wet, cold windy morning, much better to have a family day at home!

    Frying, frantic, fetching Dutchman
  • Yes Mother Dutchwoman day
Sounds like will be hot and flustered where you are
    Multi tasking not your thing
Stick to what you are good at
Put your feet up, drink and let others do the work :-)

Forecast is a moving feast for Sunday am
    Check again tomorrow

Yep. Been couped up indoors all week at work in London looking out at the glorious weather...ok for the shirkers, not so good for the workers....

    .....get out today instead!

  • Was really looking forward to my child-free, mother's day treat ride on Sunday. Then the mother of nature decided to spoil it. Interval training for me too. Gutted!
  • Rain not due until 1000 so 30 mins in the dry heading east hope to see some other crew members
  • Ahoy

Heavy rain now not until midday
    May go for it !!
Will post early tomorrow , if half ok will ride
    If not turbo later
    Let's see tomorrow

Yep. Indeed it was lovely this afternoon. Bright sunshine, dry conditions and quiet country lanes. Lunatic car drivers presumably on their sofas watching oval ball antics.

Another linear ride to take advantage of the NE wind and ride along the rolling countryside at the edge of the Chilterns before they sweep down to the Fens.

Shepreth, Thriplow, Newton, Duxford, Ickleton, Elmdon, Heydon, Gt Chishill, Barkway, Buckland, Sandon, Cumberlow Green, Luffenhall, Halls Green, Graveley, Hitchin. 40 miles @ 16mph, 2000ft of climbing.

Just about worked off the Turkish Delight meal and Effes beer from last night.

  • Ahoy

Weather looks better again with North easterly wind
    So going for it
Will make a flatish route, heading east
    Back on the winter bike
Blow away the cobwebs after Turkish delight
Maybe an elite crew, but feel free to come along

    CP
  • Will be there 09.30
    CP
  • 35 miles out to Barrington and back
Kept dry, but north easterly made for a reasonable work out
    Hope spring returns soon !

Family walk today, as requested by the Flying Dutchwoman.

    Quickswood, Clothall, Wallington, Clothall - 4 miles @ 2mph!

See you on Saturday for Pirates of The Cafe Bean - on Stranger Rides 1

    Perambulating Dutchman
  • A pub stop included I bet
    Looking forward to Sat
Got the kitchen to decorate first
Still lots of pies in the fridge to keep me going

    CP
  • Alas, sadly a dearth of pubs in the area since the Plough at Wallington, where George Orwell slaked his thirst with Simpsons of Baldock wallop and the Barley Mow in Clothall closed their doors to weary travellers many moons ago.

Additionally, all the pubs in the centre of Weston and Sandon pubs have closed and been sold off, only 1 left in Therfield and none in Kelshall! A drinker's desert in fact.
