Saturday 18th April 9.30am club ride

edited April 2015 in Club runs
A ride we haven't done since 2014 tomorrow, and something Tim suggested last week.

So north towards the Fens

Ashwell-Barrington-Barton-Madingley-Dry Draton-Gransden-Croyden-Ashwell

Should be pretty flat n' fast & hopefully the GPS in my head can remember where we need to go after Dry Drayton !

See you in the morning

  • Sounds good David, I will attempt to download the route on to my new real Garmin! To be honest though I trust your head more...
  • Excellent, I'll meet you in Barrington by the church......about 09:50?

Strangely, apart from Wells, I think this was the last club ride I came out on!
  • Should see you tomorrow
  • We won't be out tomorrow, somehow I thought it was a good idea to do the time trial instead! Have a good ride.
  • And I thought it was a good idea to accept that wedding invitation.....
  • Hope you have a lovely ride, thinking of you all.

  • Soz dipped out again ,full of cold this week, away with work next..i will be back soon.

  • Ten of us out this morning for the above club run which as I'm reliably told went nowhere near the fens ! Bit breezy & fresh to start, but wall to wall sunshine meant that it warmed up quite nicely.

As predicted, a good pace was set from the off & after a regroup on the top of Barrington hill and a slight deviation in Haslingfield we carried on to Dry Drayton etc and amazingly didn't get lost at all :)

Lovely tailwind all the way back to Ashwell where only 3 of us finished as the lure of Abbington Piggots seemed to be too much for most of the group!

So 49 miles @ a shade under 17. Great ride and good company. See you all in two weeks :)
  • Really enjoyed today's ride.
Wind was gustier than expected but everyone took turns on the front which made a big difference.
Thanks for the route, David. Have a good holiday.

Yes I enjoyed that too, so nice to have dry roads and sun. Tidy group and good pace.

Although there are still some roads in a really bad state of repair - the short but deadly Trouee de Meldreth and the lengthy Carrefour de Barrington being notable - who needs Paris-Roubaix...!
