    Yo Ho ship mates

Forecast looks poor for early Sunday morning and lots of rain tonight. Plus I'm out this evening for dinner and grog.

Still getting over hectic week and traveling back from US.

Hence would prefer to shirk under the duvet tomorrow and ride in the afternoon when both head and weather clearer.

    Jet lagged Dutchman
  • With a phone around 2pm works
    Weather better
See you then, go for 2 hours, so 30 - 35 miles
Forecast light northerly wind, so can do a flat route

    All aboard

  • Yo Ho

Perfect for me, will be there, much appreciated.

Just off for light spin from Ashwell, starting at 3 Tuns around 2.30 if anyone interested. 2 hours steady.

    Thankful Dutchman

Gentle spin today to get the legs working again.

Still a little stiff from 25 miles tootle around the chain gang route on Tuesday evening.

Ashwell Sandon Buntingford Wyddial Anstey Nuthampstead Barkway Reed Therfield Ashwell

Just under 30 miles @ 16.5mph. Lovely sunshine, stiff wind

With wind behind rode like a pro to Anstey then grovelled like a prole on the way back!

Very welcome cup of tea back at the Cap'n's Cabin afterwards, felt pretty weak.

    See you all tomorrow afternoon

    Frail Dutchman
  • Probably St Noets and back
Happy if someone has a different route
Seems most on deck for 2 pm and weather will clear
    Back on the spring bike
So have a beer tonight, a welcoming duvet is available

Presumably that's St Neots you mean, Cap'n?!

Just in from a night of victuals and grog - plenty of 'carbo loading' for the ride this afternoon.

Now to find my hammock and sleep until 10 bells.

What shall we do with the drunken sailor, early in the morning?

    - Let him sleep, shirking under the warm duvet. And go out later.

    Falling down Dutchman

P.s please don't ever drink and ride anyone - It's not safe and is illegal.

    Friendly advice Dutchman
  • You would never know FD has been on the pop
Weather better than forecast, but still ok at 2pm
    See you later
    ( some with a sore head )

  • Good fun and an eventful ride
7 out initially but became 6 after a drop out
Stig of the dump decided to have one. Nasty.

Steady ride for 30 miles became 38 miles at 18 mph
I blame the two moaning on the back from the balcony
Had to go faster to stop the din

Good fast finish with Robbie inflicting damage ( twice )
Fab ride and then retired for tea by the log fire

Captain accused of having performance enhancing items
I find the orange ones best, combined with semi retirement.

    Good Sunday afternoon
    What's your story ?

Challenging ride for a recuperating pirate today - plenty for Statler & Waldorf to moan about.

Cap'n's promise of blue skies and sunshine finally materialised as we re-entered Ashwell.

A frisky crew - 18mph the fastest speed on a Sunday ride that I've been on over the past 3 years.

The Stig went off track to find some doc leaves and James 'May' Boyle was anything but Cap'n Slow - due to all that 'Top Gear' he's undoubtedly taking. Robbie obviously the star guest and setting a record lap time.

No idea who won the sprint, Robbie wound it up from Steeple and the Balcony Boys watched the pack recede over the horizon.

Welcome cup of tea back in the Cap'n's Cabin afterwards and some ginger nuts.

Dutchy in charge next Sunday, Bank Holiday weekend, so back to the usual 40 miles @ 16-17mph.

Time for an isotonic recovery drink or two. Thanks all for the testing ride just what I needed.

    Flabby Dutchman
  • Robbie kicked twice on the final run in
    First kick down to three
    Second kick down to two
Robbie then sat up just into the dip before the line
Basically was gifting it to the red lining Captain

Well it was rude not too !

FD stopped at the farm shop for a stock up, hence missed the action
Captain's secret potion is gradually working and is Top Gear

Remember to have a suitable stopping point next week
    Broad leaf plants required
The stig will need them to complete his lap.

    And on that note

    Yo Ho

Sprints don't count for afternoon rides. Mornings only.

Stig putting a whole new meaning on club runs. Second time recently he's had to stop to forage at the side of the road.

Stopped off at the farm shop, but unfortunately closed. Luckily, still had fat reserves to draw upon from last night's meal - Very Paleo. Wonder why I'm putting on weight?!

Better have some more grog to ruminate over the issue. Think I need to be more aerodynamic....how to do that...maybe this cheeseboard will help.....

    Fromage Dutchman
  • Pirate rules " they all count "

Including the calories in a cheese board
    Tandoori chicken, scallopes and vegetables
    Pineapple yogurt
Can not understand what is happening

    Captain calorie count

Haven't had a single cheeseburger since returning from Florida, yet still feeling fat. Seems unfair. Or maybe enjoying life a bit?

Can't live the life of a semi-pro....work gets in the way..Cap'n in danger of violating the Pirate's Code. Far too serious these days.

Whatever next? Training camp in Spain? Oh yes, that's next week.....Perhaps moving on to the faster groups/chain gangs/time trials?!

    Non-shirker Dutchman
  • Ok I'll eat some pies

    Captain pork pie

That's more like it, Cap'n....oh, sorry, I appear to have eaten all the pies....get some more caramel wafers in, always go down a treat with a recovering crew, i.e. me.

My advice is to eat plenty of chorizo, omelette and chips in Spain, washed down by your old pal, San Miguel. It's a winning combo.

No Nonsense Nick will approve/be grateful.

Don't forget to buy me an XXXXL in the new colours.

    FD (fitness dietician)
  • Good ride out and nice to see we are also sharing dietary advice although ours tend to lend itself to the more fuller figure.

I still follow Nicks advice that's it's not extra weight but extra power

Good to see though that at least stig is losing weight albeit whilst in the saddle or a suitable woodland site preferably with the correct fauna

Late home for dinner but pub very accommodating with plenty of roast beef left and a decent red wine - very pleasant finish to a very pleasant ride

Many thanks and have a great time in Spain, safe journey
