Weather looks ok still Friday am
So intending to go and do a few hills
Probably the "M " and then see from there
I need to be back for 12 to 12.30
Only going if dry, will post again Thursday pm
Feel free to come along
Start 3 tuns as usual
Glad you are paying the taxes
Schools, hospitals and police all paid for by you
Your contribution to society is very welcome.
My contribution is to take out a shirkers ride and sit in the sun
Still someone has to
Friday now busy, riding morning, pub evening
( little nap afternoon )
I am voting for the shirkers party
Workers to shirkers is the motto
Now where has my knotted handkerchief gone ?
4 shirkers out for a 2 hours run
The M , then Reed ,Buckland,Sandon, slip end
Capt. lead ALL the way around and then someone sprints the last 100 meters
Who does a thing like that !
Pirate spirit lives on :-)
Good fun with a gentle breeze and sunshine
Admiral was gardening and happy
Time to try the new snooze chairs now.
Hope work in town goes well
A cool beer tonight will be toasted in your name
CP
PS good to hear you are straight back into the training. See you all Sunday.
Surprised that you haven't gone for a post-ride massage followed by ice-bath and re-stocking the body with essential nutrients - if you want to ride like a pro, you need to act like one.
It's no good doing these things half-heartedly. Gently inform the Admiral that you have booked a few training camps in Mallorca/Canary Islands/South of France/California etc.
Perhaps downsize home port to release funds for new bikes and kit, team car and support team wages to include full-time trainer, masseur, dietician, personal chef, mechanic, physio and director sportive.
First time i have done the 'M' and a nice route showing my current lack of fitness but these things have to be done
A good sprint home and a lively discussion on 'shimys'!!
The term 'leadout' would seem to apply to whoever happens to be at the front some 5 of 10 miles back or any distance or time in the ride for that matter. Still strange that after my gallant effort sprinting that our very own Captain pops out from behind a few yards from the finish like some Lycra clad wheezy Mr Ben.
The Bullet had a few late surges and was a little lively from the A505 to home
Just done the negotiations with the Admiral
Liked the grovelling required, but receptive to the idea
Shopping trips in Monaco required to balance off.
Taxes paid by you should cover this in the pension.
Doing the sums
Director sportive may have to carry spares following on a bike
Still spare tire already available
Excellent diplomatic skills under the truce of parley with the Admiral

The Pirate, episode 13
Mr Benn helps the crew of a pirate ship, who are determined not to be pirates, turn their Captain into an honest man, and see that he gets a very different sort of treasure for his island: trees from a crew of gardeners whose ship the pirates pretend to capture, but actually rescue, during a storm.
No chance of us making an honest man of you, but perhaps the trees might keep the Admiral gardener content.
Worked hard today on two fronts; raising taxes and putting in a great effort in further inflating the spare tyre.
Miserable weather on Sunday apparently. Might work some more on that spare tyre instead as out for dinner Saturday night. Can't compete with the shirking semi-pros on the road, so may shirk under the duvet Sunday morning and go for a later solo ride once the grog wears off.
All pirates must be on deck !
For the capt is an honest man deep down
Bring salvation ( and cheese burgers ) to the Pig
For if we steer a false course the sirens will have us on the rocks
The duchy lies within
The future is orange
Come hither and rejoice
Are we ever to ride together FD? What's happening?
A supposed larger, slower Dutchman shy of a ride out......
A captain that has a good turn of speed and is actually out front (a little more than usual)....
The suggestion that we ride in the rain....
The bullets passing remark yesterday ' see you next year' ....
Am I to wake up from a shower and find this is a nasty dream? (If it could be arranged that the bit with Victoria Principal stays in the same dream it would be greatly appreciated)
It's been ages, after you jumped ship and went AWOL since last summer.
I've barely missed a handful of rides this winter and spring, but recent Florida holiday has blunted my appetite for riding if not for beer and burgers.
Early season form seems to have disappeared with just 2 weeks off the bike, maybe it's the jet lag plus spare tyre?
Slept for 11 hours last night, after hectic first week back at work, so more rested this morning.
Am going out for a couple of hours this afternoon before the deluge hits, but out for dinner tonight.
Hence another afternoon ride tomorrow is my preference, if others agree. Or even if you don't!
Your form will be back soon enough as your break wasn't that long, my guess is that your right about the jet lag and workload - 11 hours sleep, you must have needed it
I am up for tomorrow afternoon and pass obtained subject to be being good as i am out with friends tonight who most certainly aint on any diet other than liquid, the solid food being either peanuts or a bag of cheese and onion at best
Hopefully see you tomorrow albeit potentially blurry

You are living the life of a semi-pro....3 more rides and you'll be like the Bullet.
Flatlining Dutchman
Might join you on Friday if that's ok
Pete2inthecaptainswake
All welcome on the M ascent
Weekend not looking too good
FD can have some more burger time
CP
Sadly, I'll be unavoidably detained from riding in daylight hours during the week by propping up the economy.

Glad that Admiral George shares your beliefs. Is that why you're only semi-pro, rather than full-time?!
Had a good evening on the 'chain gang' at the Orange Tree, Baldock; smoothly relaying beers from bar to table.
Distinct lack of cheeseburgers and fries though.
Also saw MC and the Baldock MTB gang sharing the same idea of having some Paleo beers.
Enjoy your life of Riley tomorrow, Cap'n.

I will apply for the latter position.
Perhaps tell the Admiral after the pub tonight?

Thanks

will let Admiral know after a few sherbets tonight
watch this space
Mr Ben
Either that or ensure that you've had plenty of grog first.
Watching this space avidly.

Now I know what the "M" ride is.
Really enjoyed pushing the old bod to the limit!
All the best Dave.

JR announcing devastating news
Sunday forecast dry from about 9am and then good pm
Could look at a 2 pm start to get decent weather
Even go for a flat route
I'd do anything, for you FD, anything for you mean everything to us
