Club 10 result 20.05.15

edited May 2015 in Time Trial
With quite a brisk and cold NW wind PB's very hard to come by tonight except for Sophie who PB'd by 3 minutes 23 seconds winning the handicap by 3:30 and a free entry next week, a superb ride from her.
Thanks to David and Finn for help with time-keeping

  • Thanks to the pushers and timers and James for results. Tough out there today.

Was indeed a tough one - according to the riders it was 8 miles of headwind and 2 miles of tailwind. Northfields road was almost as cold last night as the hardriders last March. Certainly didn't feel like almost summer.....

Just to add James list, Susan rode the whole course in the small chain ring as her front mech refused to believe the big ring existed ! Don't think that there were any other tractor/horses/vans/reversing householders issues

    Good effort everybody !!
  • Di2 isn't perfect then!!
  • great ride Sophie and also Susan...good training for high cadence
  • I didn't have any tractor/horses/vans/reversing householders issues but I did meet a muntjac in guilden morden, after taking a look at me he decided to stay on the verge though!
  • Thanks to everyone who helped last night. If pain is weakness leaving the body I must have had a lot of weakness last night. Well done Matt for holding me off after my smart alec wind up on the line!

I saw a muntjac last night too! Mine was on the run down towards Northfields, a nice little buck. He sprinted along beside me next to a hedge for awhile before finding a hole to dive into.

David, I left a small plastic bracket (it came off my silly saddle) on your backseat, but it disappeared. Did you put it in a safe place?
  • Yup, thanks to everyone who did the honours on Wednesday. Di2 is practically perfect, as ever with these things, it's the stuff that happens to Di2 that is the problem. I took my bike back to Corley's this afternoon, the very helpful chap there plugged my bike into a computer (!) and on the icon I could see all the electronic stuff flashing as it "talked" to the computer, diagnosed anything wrong and updated the firmware. It turned out that a cable that had come adrift after my bike fit on Tuesday. We had played around with the handlebar position and untaped the bars and didn't realise that a connection had been lost. It was all fixed and my bike had a quick tune-up too, all done with kindness and patience. I do realise that I now have lost all my excuses to be slow but I wouldn't want to ride the TT on the small chainring again despite it being good training!
I didn't see any wildlife on Wednesday, but on Sunday evening I saw cuckoos on the telephone wires along Northfields and two fox cubs playing on the road between Eyeworth and Sutton.
    Susan
