Saturday 29th August 9.30am club ride

As it was such a cracking route when we did it a month or so ago, how about we do a re-run of the Milbrook/Ampthill route tomorrow?

  • I won't be out tomorrow, have fun
  • I'm in, first group ride out since.
  • 15 of us out this morning for a ride in some glorious late summer sunshine. A high pace was set from the off and this set the tone for the rest of the ride.

We zoomed through Haynes, Houghton conquest and lit the after-burners for a 30mph blast from milbrook to Stewartby (love that road!). After a quick refuel we headed back toward home and in the now traditional deviation from the prescribed route came back via old warden, broom and Langford.

Split of the bunch at the Ashwell 4 miles meant that there were double sprint point on offer. Congrats to BobS for his peloton 2 victory.

So final stats were bang on 50 miles @ 17.5 and one poor squirrel who didn't quite make it across the road :(

Hops based beverages in the Tuns rounded off a great morning. Thanks all !
  • I am SORRY, but if you get dropped you do not earn sprint points, lol!!!

The squirrel ... well that was just natural selection surely?

Great day out for first ride since the crash, thanks Dave for navigating and everyone for making it a great return to the club rides.

And thanks for the pint!!! My round next time!

    Andy
  • Thanks all, great ride today, really enjoyed it.

Legs are feeling it now after that final sprint with Andy!

    Cheers

Half of us slowed down to wait for a couple of guys that had been caught behind a slow car at the Langford rdb so we def weren't DROPPED !

So the above comment stands, two groups, two sprints, points a plenty :)
  • You know what they say about excuses!

Everyone knows who won that sprint, heh heh heh ...
  • Squirrels taste like chicken BTW ...
