Ahoy odd balls

The rising sun meets the jock midges
Cold jock bite at the start but rising sun promised
40 miles at 16 mph
Will follow the force on the day
Do or not do, there is no try

    Yo Ho

Seven hours at Moorfields Eye Hospital today - Seven Sees of Eye?

Have a proper eye patch now that truly warrants a place on board the Pig.

This week I have to lie on my side for 24 hrs a day...the Cap'n's dream job?

No cycling for a few weeks, then I'll be able to roll along with the odd balls.

    Sounds like stick inappropriate
A wee dram required, or sake
Swing low if you need a leak

  • Eye eye indeed Cap'n

    Look like Nelson...armless.

After anaesthetic feeling pretty groggy, then again the grog could be responsible?

Have to lie on my stomach all night so 'infusing' via a straw....works wonders quickly!

    Bit of a rum do

  • Have to lie in the hammock on my side for 24 hrs a day for 7 days, so in the doldrums.

No wind in my sails. Not allowed to ride or drive for several weeks either. Terrible.

Making do with listening to the radio or audio books. Boring.

    Bring on the grog.

  • Sorry to read your message I presume you have a detached retina, I have sympathy for you as I have also been through the rigours of having one. Persevere with exactly what Moorfields advise as they are the best in their field.
  • Thanks Tony, much appreciated.

Yes, detached retina detected by Moorfields A&E when I went in for something else just before Paris Nice. They are absolutely fantastic there.

Bored already, and six more days of idleness ahead. This is going to drive me nuts.

See you later in the year.
  • Oddballs reporting for duty.

What route is the captain planning? See you at the Tuns....
  • Oddball not declaring the route early
Keep it out of the press
But some surprises to be included
Trust me I know how to get lost

    Sunk without trace. Deserved.

I didn't see that coming. Then again, I can't see anything at the moment.

The early fog and cold soon cleared to give an enjoyable morning on the bike with nearly 2000ft of climbing in 34 miles. Group stayed together quite nicely and good to see Tony had his good legs back.

Plenty of opportunities to smash it with a youthful George leading the way. Everyone agreed we missed FD's usual lead out on Slip End.

All good and see you next week.
  • The magnificent seven set off into the ominous ether
    Muchos Colinas lay in wait
Eyes cold as steel, heart beating in expectation
As the climb ascended, so did the fog and a glow appeared
Voluminous vistas filled the eye and heart
    The awakening began

Sonic new Spanish stead was up to the challenge
Tony became the bullet once more
George bitter sweet in youths joyful climbing , memories recounted
Jeremy did a manly lead out, but a mire shadow of an FD
    All life on board ship

  • All the best Mr. Dutchman.
I had the same problem 12 years ago. Not much fun laying horizontal for days on end but my eye has been fine ever since.
    Hope all goes well.

    Dave.
  • Thanks Dave

All this lying around is making me tired...another 3 days of it still to go! At least the weather has been awful, so haven't missed riding my bike at all.....DOH!

  • Look on the bright side,
all this lying around will make you back to your former full figure
All the more drafting for us on your return.

  • That's the problem, Cap'n, I can't look, can't see a thing out of one eye!

By the time I can ride again, I'll be hanging off the back, rather than leading out....

....all very dispiriting....losing all form so hard won the year. Sigh.
