  • Yo Ho

The prognosis from the ship's doctor yesterday was......

......for another 4 weeks off the bike...making 7 weeks in total!

Not even allowed to drive yet, but fit enough to return to work on Monday....

  • Never mind Cap'n

At least the weather has been foul again...who would want to be out today or yesterday in those awful conditions...pouring rain, blustery gales, freezing temperatures? Luckily, I've now managed to miss the last 4 consecutive terrible weekends, confined to port with one eye.....only another 4 weekends until I can ride again...should be lovely weather by then......!!

  • 5 out today for a coffee and cake great ride weather just right 70 miles @ 16.9
I ended up with 85 miles it may be time to put the summer bike away for winter storage
  • Tony - I reckon there's a few more weekends yet for the Summer bike. Looks like the group wanted something much longer today? I was on hill climb duty - see you next week.
  • I am not out next week either
    Have a good one

  • I won't be out next week either...or the following week....or the following week etc

At present the ship's doctor reckons I can ride the weekend of 7/8 November....the latter being my 50th birthday!!

Not drinking at present Cap'n, as sofa/sombre/sober for October.

  • 5 out in gorgeous autumn weather for a longish but steady 9:30 ride. Thanks go to Carmelo for navigating

70 miles, 800m climbing, av 15.5mph. Bicicletta in Saffron Walden was doing a roaring trade

Dominic tried and tried to stir up a sprint, but the group was having none of it ... please get well soon James, otherwise I fear he might explode
  • Thanks to you all for your encouragement, coaching and patience over the last 2 Sundays.
Yes, 15.5mph outward into a lightish breeze for the 30 miles to Saffron Walden, then looping back south of Cambridge for a total of 70 at 16.9.
Couldn't have done it without you, especially Carmelo.
Family birthday this Sunday, so won't be joining you this week.
    Arrivederci,
    Derek

Regret end of sprinting looms, green jersey already claimed

    Frustration and regret beckons :-)

  • Many thanks to Tony & others for the navigation and company. Very enjoyable late Autumn ride in pretty reasonable conditions.
