Cyclo-Cross Race Help
Hi,
Just a reminder that I need lots of help for the club cyclo-cross race on Saturday 2nd October at Knights Templar School, Baldock. This will be a CAT B event this year so a more prestigous event for the club. This is the biggest event we put on in terms of number of riders so we need lots of help please.
I need course builders from 8am.
A signing on assistant from 9am
Marshals from 10am
Judges from 10am
Please sign up below.
Thanks,
Mark.

What time will it all finish?
We are up to 8 helpers now which is still not quite enough, so please sign up here. The racing is well worth watching on one of the fastest courses in the region.
The racing timetable is
11:00 Vets/Women/Novice Seniors (ordinary Vets like myself and Phil)
12:00 U12
12:45 Youth (U16)
13:45 Seniors/Juniors/Elite Vets
The senior race will be over by 3pm so with packing up etc, marshals duties should be done by 4pm when we can retire to the pub to toast those club members who gave it a go.
I thought I was going to be promoted to the Elite Vets this season but have been reprieved. Some fast seniors have just had their Vets licences! So if you fancy mixing it with Phil K, Vincent and myself then get yourself along to an Eastern Region event. They are great fun and the most sociable side of the sport.

E-mailed you a while back to say I can help. Fiona would like to borrow a bike as your recent e-mail.

Sorry for the late reply. Ive been ill so have been out of bike action for a couple of weeks and not been on the site. Unfortunately I cant help out this weekend as Im racing the bicycle with a motor.
Hope it goes well,
Justin
sent you an email apologising for my non-show to set up the course and race yesterday. for some reasons i thought the race was today (Sunday), a slight doubt arouse in my head when i recalled going to Days for a sandwich last year and that the race must have changed from a Saturday to a Sunday this year. Checking the wall calendar was the big shock when I realised i had in-fact got the days muddled. Too much work and not enough focus on other stuff I am afraid. Sorry to all.
Hell what will i do with these shaved legs now? Enter them into a knobbly knee competition? What a pain.
hope there were enough of you to make light work of the organising and 1000 apologies to all.
Thanks to all those who did help yesterday. We had the course up in record time, by 9:30am and everything taken down rapidly as well. We had record numbers, a total of 180 riders. That's compared with 2 years ago when we had a total of 109 riders. I think that shows that Cyclo-Cross is the fastest growing discipline in cycle sport at the moment in this country.
Some of you will have picked up that the winner of the senior race, Junior Hugo Robinson is not 16 until December. He was going well last year when he won the Youth Nat Champs but he has improved even more rapidly this season. Something for our youth members to aspire towards.

Your story reminds me of an incident a few years ago. I was at Eastway (the forerunner to Hog Hill) for a race and a woman turned up from the Channel Islands for the Nat Crit Champs. The problem was it had been there the day before. Not only was she a day late for her biggest target of the year but she had forked out to fly over, hotel etc.
There is always the next round at Welwyn next SATURDAY where you can pit your shiny shaved legs against my currently struggling ones.
