Welcome to the forum
Saturday 1st July - 9.30am club ride - Blue Egg Cafe
Change of plan for tomorrow, so instead of the 5 counties we are going to do a spin to the Blue Egg.
Out via Buntingford/Newport/Debden, following the classic route there. Might do a slightly different return via Finchinfield and Great Sampford, S Walden (I'll have to map it and see how many miles it adds). Should be 70ish miles will be back in Ashwell sometime mid-afternoon.
Looking forward to the excellent cake already

Out via the classic Buntingford, Clavering, Debden, Thaxted route to the cafe that never disappoints. Sausage roll & coke seemed to be the fuel of choice, but I wisely went for a house brick sized choc, hazelnut and fig cake - awesome
Post Blue egg fuelling, it was into the unknown and after some Garmin deliberation in Finchingfield it was on to a lovely quiet road to Hellions Bumsted, Castle Camps and into Saffron Walden via Ashton. I would say it was down to Saffron Walden, but I seem to have inadvertently designed a route back that was basically uphill all the way from the Blue Egg to Therfield - whoops !!
So 77 miles at 16.5 I think, although didn't actually make it back to Ashwell as the lure of the Fox and Duck beer garden in Therfield was too much to refuse
Thanks all for a great day out. Think we might have found the classic blue egg route !
