CCA TdF Summer Social - Friday 14th July - Letchworth Tring Letchworth

Save the date... Friday 14th July for CCA's summer social event of cycling (and socialising)

More details to follow but we are aiming for a Friday morning Club Ride to The Cog in Tring, starting and finishing at the Garden City Brewery, Letchworth.

60-70 mile ride approx 9 am start in Letchworth, country route to The Cog, Tring and back via Ivinghoe Beacon and Bison Hill.
Back to Garden City Brewery at around 2 pm for food, drink and to watch Stage 13 (the shortest ever stage since half stages disappeared - there'll be fireworks!) of the Tour de France on big telly!

May well carry on through the evening if enough participants.

Whether its just to ride, to ride and watch the Tour of just watch the tour, please add your name to the thread (stating desired option of socialising) so we can get an idea of numbers.

  • Sounds great. Up for this. I'll likely stash a change of shorts, t-shirt and a cowbell in the car park nearby. And stick bike in there too. The Garden City Brewery is excellent and staff super friendly.

There's a good covered outdoors areas for locking bikes up whilst we watch the Tour. I'll also bring a change of clothes. The Garden City Brewery said they could possibly open first thing for people to dump bags off before the ride.

Post ride, the GCB can offer a selection of Sausage Rolls, Scotch Eggs, Samosas and a Cheese Board. Meat products from quality Chapmans butchers in Baldock.

  • I'll finish work a bit early and join you for the Tour and drinking. I may or may not be able to continue in to the evening, TBC.

This stage may have to be altered due to landslides on the route. They might clear them in time but if not they will change the route.

Stage Schedule 1:35pm Start ~ 4:15-4:30 Finish UK time

Approx 2pm arrival back at Garden City Brewery should be spot on.
  • Think I'll try and make this, as been a long while since cycled near Tring / Berkhamsted (maybe 35 years?)
  • Arrive 8:45am at Garden City Brewery (The Wynd) for a 9am departure, heading out towards the Chiltern Hills and up Invinghoe Beacon towards Tring.

Stop at The Cog, Tring for a shot of coffee and cake based sustenance before heading back, this time via Bison Hill and back to Garden City Brewery for approx 2pm.

Nice steady club run pace, timings based on 16mph Av so no need to rush.

Martin, I'll aim for a century and ride over from Royston. Let's meet at Tuns around 8:20 (and anyone else) 6.5 miles to GCB from there.

We'll aim to leave Garden City Brewery @ 9am sharp.

GCB will not be open to drop bags off so if anyone is bringing a change of clothes will need to stash somewhere??

GCB can pre order food. .. Sausage Rolls, Pork Pies, Samosas, Cheese Boards. (Meat stuff from Chapmans Butchers). If you want to get your requests in, I can forward these on. Shouldn't be a problem on the day, about half hour wait for Sausage Rolls and Samosas.

    Riders currently...

    Nathaniel ??
    Vince ??

So... I will be passing Guilden Morden village hall 8am.
Ashwell Three Tuns 8.20am, to see Matt.
Garden City Brewery around 8.45am for a 9am start.

I may stash my 'afternoon shouting at the telly' bag in the woods, or in some CCA member's house.

Gareth... come along: after several of us getting through sausage rolls, samosas and a cheese board, there'll be plenty of Argon hanging around the TV area of the Garden City Brewery bar. Along with other gaseous elements.

Or redirect your package to the GCB?
  • I'll probably see you at GCB @ 3ish as i wouldnt want to be antisocial and ride the TT bike.
  • Hi All

I will not be able to join for the ride Friday but will most definitely join to watch the tour later on.

Anyone is welcome to leave their gear at mine on Thursday or Friday morning and also get a shower after the ride.

If you need my address please pm me and I will provide details.

    Rgds

    Andrew
