  • Echo that but hope it goes well
  • Thanks, hopefully my support team will put up regular progress updates.
Also good luck to Chris P who is doing the Outlaw Ironman in Nottingham.
  • Good luck JMac... what time are you aiming for?

    Boom boom
  • Good luck James! Wow
  • We're nearly three hours into the event. Riders having to contend with torrential rain showers and flooded roads. Busy roads around Whitchurch and traffic backing up behind riders. A real eclectic mix of riders - maybe this event attracts the eccentrics!

We've given James extra clothing to deal with the inevitable chill factor. Just need some sun to warm us up.
  • Thanks @JeremyP for the updtae.

Hope the weather improves! Will be a true mental battle as well as physical.
  • Great to have an update - hope all goes well through the night and he isn't too damp and cold
  • We're 7hours in and 129miles completed.
James just stopped for a change of clothes. A wet and cold evening has left riders shivering. We're losing the light early tonight and lights are on. The night is mostly taken up on short circuits from a 24h ervice station. So far so good. The coffee is on
  • Thanks for the updates - go James!
  • Good luck on the overnight leg James. Fingers crossed for some dry weather.
  • Come on James!!
  • 12hours in and 220miles done. Damp but still night. James doing great and feeling strong.
  • Temperature plummeted in last hour before dawn. A real cameraderie developed between all the riders and helpers. Thankfully the strategy with the lights worked out well. James had a slow hour but picked up speed again now.
  • Getting through the dark must be a massivr releif. Thanks for the updates Jeremy
  • Yeah, thanks Jeremy- doing the support is a mammoth task in itself- doing either riding or supporting sounds horrific- certainly puts my own fatigue into perspective! Smash it James!!!

277miles with 8hours to go. Thanks for all the messages. All good
  • Thanks for the updates Jeremy. Difficult to imagine still 6+ hours to go. Keep going JAMES all thinking of you
  • You cant sugar coat this event. The morning has brought drizzly rain but thankfully almost no wind. James is well past the 300mile mark and still pushing hard. You can sense the urgency in all the riders voices as they enter the last 6h and realise the end is in sight and what can be achieved. Team Hickman also still in the race and battling onwards.

James has been surviving on Muller rice, fig rolls and gels.
  • Go James! Weather should improve today and you may even see the sun!
  • Thanks Stef.
    323miles with 5.5h to go.
    Thinking 420+ achievable
  • Keep going James, you can do it!
  • Amazing !! What a challange!!
    Keep it going James.
  • Incredible effort so far James, well done. Look forward to seeing the end result of this!
  • On the finishing circuit.
370miles with around 3h to go.
Warmer now and dry but wind rising.
  • Go James! (and helpers). This is a very exciting thread and very inspirational
  • Agree with Tim. Keep looking back in for updates. The forecast I saw for that area says staying dry now.
Just heard one of the Basildon CC riders (CXer) has dropped out due to old knee injury - gutted.
This is such a huge ask of your mind and body - keep going James.
