Welcome to the forum

Saturday 16th November 9.30am autumn/winter club ride

Chilly again tomorrow, so another day for the winter woolies. Only a 4mph wind forecast though, which is pretty unusual for around here !!

Two options for tomorrow, either south with a coffee stop in Spokes Codicote:

https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/27918677

Ashwell-Buntingford-Westmill-Dane End-Saccome-Stapleford-Woolmer Green-Codicote-St Ipps-Willian-Baldock-Ashwell (50 miles)

or for something a bit shorter, East(ish) for a hilly start and flat finish

Ashwell-Therfield-Reed-Barkway-Nuthamstead-Ansty-Measden-Langley-Dudenhoe End-Elmdon-Shepreth-Meldreth-Bassingbourn-Ashwell (41 miles)

Something a bit like this, but obviously with a few deviations thrown in here and there for good measure ;)

We can decide in the morning based on weather/enthusiasm etc

See you there !!

  • Either option is good with me, but haven't been to Spokes yet so quite fancy that tbh. But yes let's see what the consensus is in the morning.
  • Can't make tomorrow, have a good ride and enjoy Spokes....we were there Wednesday 👍

Consensus was for the cafe run, so 7 of us set of down south. Great ride that can be summarised in one word:

    Mud !

So we slithered a bit, went gingerly around the corners laced with wet rotting leaves and even forded a small river at one point near Aspenden to get to Spokes. Def worth the trip though, cake of the day was superb, white choc and raspberry sponge :)

So suitably fortified, we trundled our way back to Ashwell to give us pretty much bang on 50 miles @ a shade under 16. Oh and the forecast was right and it was almost completely breeze free today !!

Thanks all for an excellent morning, great company & good fun. Def a cafe to do again, but might go there a slightly shorter way next time !
