Zwift Inter-club Winter Competition 2023-24
A heads up as I intend running the Zwift Inter-club competition again this year over the 4 winter months. It will again be based on the British Cycling 10TT on Thursdays at 12.20pm or 6.30pm (you can do either) and start on Thursday November 2nd with a 7 -week series before Christmas finishing on the 14th December; followed by a 2nd 8-week series starting on 4th January & finishing on the 22nd.
The participating clubs are: HNCC, BRCC, CCA (combined with Meridian Tri); IRC; Freedom Tri and CC Luton. All riders MUST be on Zwiftpower.com and a member of their respective club’s team for the race – so I can extract the results for the team.
Riders who race in other Zwift teams may need to switch their 1st claim team for the race.
I know CCA favour the WTRL races on Tuesdays & the Thursday races offer a second opportunity for some and an alternative for others.

CC Luton have started as strong as they finished last Winter.

Week 2 of the 7 pre-Christmas series. CC Luton kicked off the competition last week with an impressive lead – but there is still a long way to go in this series.

Week 3 of the 7 pre-Christmas series. CC Luton kicked off the series with a win in Week 1 but Hitchin Nomads snuck the win in week 2 and the overall series lead – but only by a whisper…

Week 4 of the 7 pre-Christmas series. So far 3 different clubs have won an event (CC Luton, HNCC & BRCC) However, HNCC lead the overall points table – but it’s pretty tight at the top……..

BRCC have also just taken the overall lead in the points table with HNCC 2nd & CC Luton 3rd - with only 28pts separating the top 3 after 4 races of the 7 series before Christmas.
It was good to see Vincent Plosky - out racing tonight too.

Week 5 of the 7 pre-Christmas series. So far BRCC have won 2 events; HNCC 1 & CC Luton 1 with BRCC taking the overall lead in the points table and just 28 points separating the top 3 clubs.

Week 6 of the 7 pre-Christmas series. So far BRCC have won 2 events; HNCC 2 & CC Luton 1. BRCC are in the points table lead and now with just 31 points separating the top 3 clubs. In fact, only 4 points separated the top 3 clubs in last week’s race after a correction.

The 2nd round of this Winter's Series starts again this Thursday 4th @ 12.20 or 6.30pm.
It all starts with a clean sheet for an 8-week series finishing on the 22nd February – in time for Spring & outdoor competition.
All club Zwifters are welcome as long as they have joined their club’s race teams in Zwiftpower.com.

Apologies for my errors: I gave Jojo Smith (HNCC) to BRCC & missed out Steve James (CC Luton). A Male TeamTrident also raced on his wife’s account – & gained points as a woman - which has now been corrected.

After the first 2 races HNCC have won the first 2, and lead 2nd place Team Trident Tri by a mere 21pts; with BRCC 3rd & CC Luton 4th, respectively.

Team Trident won last week & broke the winning spell of HNCC and took lead in the overall points table – but by only 4 points at the half-way stage. With 4 races left in this series will Trident continue with their winning streak & can BRCC & CC Luton catch up?

Team Trident still lead the overall points table with 797pts; HNCC 2nd with 766pts; CC Luton 3rd & coming up fast with 670pts; and BRCC on 586pts – with 3 races left in the series.

CC Luton took the win for the first time in this post-Christmas series and stormed up the points leader board by scoring almost 100 points more than any other club with their very strong 11-person team.
Team Trident still lead the overall points leader board with HNCC only 31 points off & CC Luton making a storming end to the season.

Team Trident still have the overall points lead with just one race to go & CC Luton have leap frogged HNCC into second place – BUT only by 15
Overall Points - Trident 1198; CC Luton 1058; HNCC 1043; BRCC 704: FreeTri 616; CCA 220; & IRC 24.

Final race of the Season with a 3-way fight for the overall points podium. Trident are well out in front of 2nd place Luton and lead them by 140 points – which looks pretty unassailable.
HNCC were leap-frogged by Luton last week & relegated to 3rd – but are only 15 points behind. Can they take the place back from Luton this week – who are having a storming finish to the league?

Team Trident were the clear winners of the post-Christmas series by consistently getting the numbers out and having some very strong ladies & men. Team Hitchin Nomads, who also got the numbers out, were 2nd yesterday and managed to re-claim their 2nd position in the overall points score from CC Luton. Unfortunately, after having a few storming weeks CC Luton’s attendance fell away yesterday which let HNCC in and hence they finished 3rd.
BRCC won the pre-Christmas Series but with the inclusion of Team Trident, after Christmas, their team was probably depleted.
Many thanks to all of those who participated to give a competitive focus in these dark months and enjoyed the ‘pain’ as much as I didn’t. Hopefully we will see many of you in the cycling clubs in the real-world Inter-clubs & Opens in the year ahead. Regards all – John.
