Welcome to the forum
Online Safety Bill and Changes to this forum
Good Evening CCA members:
I want to keep this as short as possible and to the point.
Open forums with the potential of allowing children to access harmful content on internet forums will now be closely scrutinised and controlled under the Online Safety Bill.
In order to keep the forum, we must now ensure,
1/. That only adult CCA members use the forum.
2/. You are a British Cycling member (with 3rd party insurance) as I will use this as the hook for age verification.
If you are not a paid CCA member and a BC member then you will not be allowed to use the site.
(Any questions related to this, please message mc@ccashwell.com).
Background:
The Online Safety Act 2023[1][2][3] (c. 50) is an act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom to regulate online content. Designed to protect children and adults online, it passed on 26 October 2023 and gives the relevant Secretary of State the power, subject to parliamentary approval, to designate and suppress or record a wide range of online content that is illegal or deemed "harmful" to children.[4][5]

Comments
If you are a member and wish to stay on the forum,
Please post up your name and forum username (as commonly they are different) by 2025-04-18. This will allow me to find you and save you.
Anyone that has not posted here l'll assume that you no longer wish to use the forum to post and/or are no longer a paid member of CCA and will therefore delete the user account. (For the CCA membership in April, David Jones will help me on this point).
Please note all history will be deleted in its entirety from the forum for a deleted user. So if there is something you want to keep then copy it / take it as it will be permanently removed.
Draconian I know... but the UK is now tighter than China on this point
So... you guys have a month to let me know. :-)

Out of the list remaining I'll cross ref users against a BC membership to prove adult age verification.
Anyone not meeting this criteria will then be removed also. (Key point).
STEP 3:
1/. New Users will only be allowed once it is proven that they are a CCA member.
2/. They have a valid BC membership and can prove it of course
Again any private questions, please message mc@ccashwell.com

Looks like I'm stuffed then!
I haven't ridden since July last year so I did not renew my BC membership (BC:1369418).
I will be renewing with the club in April though.
