Hog Hill - Race Training Session - Sat 14 May, 9-12pm - all welcome
Hi,
Hog Hill Road Riding Training Session Saturday 14th May 9:00 - 12:00
I am organising a club training session on Saturday 14th May at Redbridge Cycle Centre (Hog Hill). This will be suitable for anyone who comes out on club rides, be it Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays or anyone who races. Youth riders especially welcome. If I get big enough numbers then I will arrange for a Pro rider to help out.
Hog Hill is a fantastic facility with a great circuit, plush changing rooms and a superb view of East London. Road bikes can be hired at the circuit if you don't have one yet.
I intend to cover (with help from the club coaches and expert riders)
Riding in a group
Cornering with others
Riding on a wheel
Sprinting in a group
Descending in a group
Plus some fun races for those who want to stretch their legs.
Just £8 (£5 for Under 18s)
Just 40 places available - email me to book a place and pay on the day - markwyer at ntlworld.com
Mark.

Yes, still on and you are in.

Your coaches for the morning will be myself (Level 3 road and time trial) and Keely Bunton (Level 2 road and time trial) and expert rider Billy Whenman (Whyte Bikes).
If travelling from Ashwell area, you have the choices of
a1(M) M25 then off at Junc 26, Waltham Abbey, A121, Debden, A1112.
M11, and then M25 to Waltham Abbey and as above.
If you know M11, then Epping to Abridge then the back roads there get you in fastest this is the route I use but I do know it fairly well round there.
You could even do M25 to A12 and over from Chadwell heath which I have done once and it was ok.
All feasible routes but 1 is probably your best bet. For those that did the London Phoenix ride, Hog Hill is the northern end of Forest Road just off the A1112.
Parking is at the bottom of the hill, so be prepared to walk/ride your bike up the hill with kit bag etc. Take everything with you in one go, you dont want to have to go back down again.
The changing rooms are open from 8:45am so no need to travel in your cycling kit. Showers available afterwards.
Bring your own refreshments although they do sell tea and coffee at reception.
Meet me in the club room by 9am to register. We will try and do the bike helmet and clothing check at 9:05am. Im not looking to catch anyone out, just make sure everyone will be safe for the session. No tri-bars please. Please check bottle cages are firmly fixed and you must have bar end plugs.
For most of the session we will be down the bottom of the hill well away from the club room. Please bring everything you will need down with you to avoid having to come back up to the club room. This includes spare tubes, snacks, drinks, waterproof, extra layers. I suggest you bring it all down in a draw string rucksack/bag. Remember to use the toilet before we head off!
If you havent been before you might fancy bringing a camera for the views over East London.
See you Saturday,
Mark.
