Cat 4 ashwell race 17th

edited May 2009 in Road Racing
Hey

I was just wondering if the people who are racing the cat 4 road race fancy meeting up and planning some tactics before the race, because the fast group is as strong as the pack will be. This means if we work together for 1 or 2 people we could get a top 5 place or get a CCA rider to win. How cool will that be!!!

  • good points Will.........I've just mailed some fast group...Iain and Alex H. should walk it...there are 6 places available still ..just go on line and sign in guys...would be great.
  • i'm aiming to be there for 7.30 so good time for a tactical chat!
  • I am going to win it.
  • well I'll be lurking on your wheel don't forget?!
  • i cant wait to watch this..... Got my Handycam on charge.... Top of Cardington Hill should be the best vantage point so i want to bag this marshalling point....
  • Where do I start??? fast & furious, great fun, scary at times & that was just the first lap! unfortunately Phil, Tony or Will will have to tell you about laps 2 & 3 as I was dropped on Cardington Hill!! Still thoroughly enjoyed my lap, will definately be back next year, lighter and stronger, ready for that hill!!

'Chapeau' to the CCA trio who finished - Phil looked very strong and I think was either 10th or just outside, closely followed by Tony having avoided a crash at the bottom of the final trip up Cardington and then Will just behind Tony.

Bad luck to Stefan for his TWO puntures!! 8-(

    let the abuse begin.....
  • PS - for those who fancy it next year - first lap average speed on my Polar was 23.6mph!!! (including that sodding hill!!!!)
  • My garmin device registered same as Tims, 23.6mph average.

Disappointed with no top ten. The loss of Tim after lap1 meant the strategy went out of the window. Earlier in the week Levi Skelders had volounteered to be my domestique, following my 'gift' to him a few club runs back to the Ashwell sign, where I admirably led him out. However, the debt remains unpaid now.

Great event, thank you to all that organised it. Never mind the 'never again', next year will come prepared, if only to give Levi the opportunity to settle up.
  • lol...

May i also pass on my thanks to everyone involved, from where we were all was not only smoothly run but also very professionally done! I was very impressed!

    next year... :)
  • Many thanks to all the team who put the event on - had a great time, even though I made a mess of it. I know at least what I need to do for next year, looking forward to it!

    Cheers,

    Graham - BRCC rider
  • Tim and I from the service/first aid car were equally impressed at the quality of racing/marshalling and race control. We were only sad that no-one was able to catch the group back.....so many punctures. we had 3-4 on cat2/3 race within 200metres on one lap.........congratulations to Ashley Cox...2nd place and now cat 1 from cat 4 in this race season.....
Well done Trahern for running the day and stepping into Carmelo's impressive footsteps and with everyone who controlled admin/canteen and everything to make it run well for the racers.
  • just add my thanks to everyone involved - my first race and i was very impressed with the organisation, marshalling, support etc. especially thanks to geoff and tim in the support vehicle although did see a little bit more of them than i would have ideally liked! punctured twice on the first lap and they were great with wheel changes etc but race was over after the second one. thoroughly enjoyed the brief bit of the race that i was involved in though!
