Good luck to all our youth members riding their first omnium tomorrow.

Here's a challenge for tomorrow morning... Every week at our Thurs evening youth coaching session the members of Group 1 do a "T10" time trial on the track: they start together and cover as many laps as possible in exactly 10 minutes. They can choos…

If you can't borrow one Josh maybe consider hiring.

It was a great event last summer. We had a terrific CCA team sprint of two Under 10s and a senior national champion. Freddie & James took it easy on Andrew though and eased off for him
-
Can we add a youth category to the handicap competition please? It would help to encourage racing among our young club members. I believe there may be at least one youth member (a twelve-year-old) riding tomorrow evening. Mark F

Does anyone have admin rights so they can "sticky" this post please?

Well done Adam & Gareth for stepping forward. If you want any info to help prepare for the event just let me know.

Thanks Andrew. If we ever recover from the effort of producing this one we'll do another on MTB/hybrid bike fit for children too.

Well done Theo, Jon, Cameron on holding your own in more top-level junior racing. In fact we drove along the CiCLE Classic course and through Melton Mowbray this morning on the way to a different event. If we'd known you were racing we would have ch…

Those are excellent photos Gareth. I'm glad Sophie & Holly enjoyed it Paul. They have come on such a long way. It's well worth entering the Welwyn Youth Omnium for the experience - you can enter online this year instead of using a standard track…
-
Well done James & Tim for adding an extra dimension. Can we add youth boy and youth girl categories too please? There are a number of 12-16 yr old youth riders who are likely to ride the club 10s this year, and that would be added encouragement f…

Junior racing at national level is incredibly hard, so very well done Theo and Jon for your efforts, especially in such hilly terrain. Keep it up.

CCA is a member of ECCA. See "clubs" at http://www.easterncounties.org.uk/ It's completely separate to the Eastern Road Race League. I assume you're looking at a race during the ECCA Festival which has many good events: time trials, road races, Aud…

Hello John - I'll take the two Thule 591 carriers please. Mark F

To complicate things a bit more for you, here's a vote for Minoura rollers. - cylindrical rollers not conical - alumnium drums (not plastic) - quiet bearings - 3.5" rollers - lightweight - wider than most other rollers (so more forgiving of tank-sla…

Tim, your Ultremo ZX tyres were fine at Newport yesterday, even when riding around the top of the banking at my (obviously) modest speed. I'd definitely be happy to fit a pair of those to my own wheels. Thanks for the loan. My head remembered what t…

Mark Zaschke at City Cycle Centre in Ely has built two PowerTap wheels for me. He's an excellent wheelbuilder. http://www.citycyclecentre.com/cycles.html Mark F

This is what the GB team mechanics say about chain cleaning, lubrication and stretch.

I've only ridden 80 miles in the last six months so I'll be riding very slowly at Newport... So if those tyres are sticky enough to keep me upright next week they'll certainly keep you out of trouble!

I optimistically booked a ticket for this talk (which takes place tonight). It sold out weeks ago, but I haven't got the time to be there, so if you want a ticket whisper me a message quickly and I'll email you the ticket. Mark F

By the way, I have an unused S/M size club cap available for the purchase price: £12.50 Mark F

Tim - I suggest giving me Lottie's award when we next meet and I'll pass it on (I promise I won't keep it and pretend its mine).

Yes, that's what has been worked out behind the scenes...

Shelton - no, we have more U12s than U10s so it wouldn't be sensible to have two U10s in a single team, as that would reduce the number of U12s who could race. Let's see how/if the organiser responds tonight.
-
It's not just us who have been wrong-footed either - Welwyn Whlrs had already organised teams for seven U12s and one U10. With the new "rules" they'd be able to make just one team out of that. The organiser has been contacted.
