Route here for those that don't know it. I wonder if 'Bernard' will be with him?
-
Cheers Tim - found it on Wikipedia, 'Drafting'. Yep: no white line straddling. I didn't notice that. The animation doesn't include the occasional combine harvester coming the other way, dead badgers, or 'Bassingbourn rogues' hurling abuse from the s…

Note: the animation is going clockwise. The CCA chain 'classic' is actually always anti-clockwise - whatever the wind direction. It's a deeply embedded part of CCA folklore.
-
By drafting behind others, your energy efficiency improves by up to 40% - [theoretically]. It's just that bit on the front that REALLY hurts! Dive in Lloydy!

This map might be useful for the uninitiated; http://tiny.cc/chaingang-cca Everyone remember to shout out the left-turn at Bassingbourn for gawd's sake - really important for newbie chaingangers.

Nige: here's our IC home event for 15th July; http://www.bikemap.net/route/838236#lat=52.102334547326&lng=-0.10739&zoom=13&maptype=ts_terrain Good luck all CCA Interclub riders this Saturday!

You might be able to export this map for GPS; http://www.bikemap.net/route/996740#lat=52.066126947338&lng=-0.33177000000001&zoom=13&maptype=ts_terrain If you roll your mouse over the hill profile [in the grey rectangle], a little arrow …

Download the race programme here Or copy and paste this link; http://tiny.cc/prima2012 Good luck to all CCA riders!

Hi Steve I'd say you'd be fine on the Sunday Club Run at 9.00am, Three Tuns, Ashwell. They go a little further but not really any faster as an average speed. Given the protection from the elements provided by riding in a group, it shouldn't be anyth…

Here is the official promotional poster for this CCA event. I'm sure it'll be a great afternoon for all riders and spectators.

Done - cheers Skleders. I've remember - I mapped this one last year. If you roll your mouse over the hill profile [in the grey rectangle], a little arrow will take you over the course. It's a little confusing - but that's part of the battle! http:…

CCA took a trip out to this region in 2008 - the weekend after this event. I can vouch for the great riding and beautiful scenery. And food! A few pics that paint the picture here It was painless getting there - even after having to abandon the Eur…

Last one of these sessions tomorrow folks. Well done Mark

Last year, the first chaingang of the season was on the second Tuesday of April. I recall the second lap being a bit tricky at speed in low light - and they still haven't filled that hoofin' big hole on the road up to the hill near Steeple. You'll de…

Hiya The current view is to not have an official club twitter - so as to focus info on one location - this forum. Same for Facebook. I've never seen either work successfully for any cycling club - except for those without a club forum already. He…

A couple of pics from Saturday
-
Hi Mark Hopefully the Club Run page gives you the info you want - http://www.ccashwell.com/club-runs.html In a nutshell - there's not much difference I'd say in effort terms between the Saturday 9.30am ride - and both the steady rides on offer at 9…

The GD [Geoff Denny Classic] can be found at the top of this list; http://www.ccashwell.com/rides.html A 100-miler where you're never more than about 10 miles from Ashwell - so perfect to cut short at any point.

James And co. We are carriage 3. With Stella.
-
Robbie - I hope you can make lunch - or later on, nearby. Fellas - I thought I'd put together a loose agenda. I might flesh it out a bit more once I can focus again after Saturday's wrestle with a keg of Titanic. Women and children first! I'm sugge…

Just bringing Saturday's Intro ride to the top of the forum. 9:30am @ Three Tuns car park. Nice n' easy - and luckily decent weather - especially for December. Good luck Tom!
-
Cool. As you will now see - this Discussion is now in the newly created 'LEJOG 2012' Category - and you'll see it running down the left-side menu list of Categories down between General and Members-only. Sorted!
-
MC - would you prefer 'LEJOG2012' to be a forum Category? It probably warrants its own space and would stop discussions running to 5 pages or so. You could 'multi-track' as well - separate discussions for kit, accommodation, gear ratios. After the ev…

That's great Tom. Everyone I've set up a Doodle to volunteer throughout 2012! What's yer diaries like? http://tiny.cc/intro-rides-2012

Dave - a few more options here.
-
And Mike [Christie] is taking us further back - 1982 and '81! Apparently - in '81 they let you do the loop in the velodrome. Nice! 1982 - 7,000 riders, potential for bedlam, so it had to finish elsewhere. Cheers Mike!
-
Bryan - some advice from last year. May be helpful....

MC - the link is towards the bottom of the club page here. Nice one! http://www.ccashwell.com/membership.html
