That's marketing!

OK, 'masterclass' is probably a bit strong and the discussion I had with Martin about an exchange of views over a pint seems to have become a bit more. However if you would like to follow the points under discussion please bring a clean wheel, tyre,…

A little bit more: - This style of derny racing is an endurance event, typically between 60-80 laps of a 250m track. Here is a link to the 2012 derny nationals at Herne Hill, if you look carefully you'll see me racing. (Not a good look!)

The position on the bike is UCI approved and much time on the course is given over to attaining this. Heels on the pedals, with toes pointing out and elbows out as far as possible. This gives as much protection from the headwind as possible to the fo…

The talk in the press is that he 'fainted' before the collision, I think it's fairly clear that he was unconscious before he was run over as he wasn't doing anything to protect himself. Cycling Weekly At 35mph on an indoor track it's almost impossi…

Three pictures of the finish showing Will going for an early one.

Can you imagine if this was live!

Dan is looking to ride the race this Thursday (24/4/14) but it's likely that Alison and I won't be able to get back from work in time to take him and his bike. If there is anyone going from the village or passing through on the way please could we g…

Can't make it tonight, apologies. Richard

Thanks everyone for the words of support. Matt, let's meet, maybe at the first Tuesday Pub Night to discuss putting something in the paper. Adam, just noticed the 'Herts and Minds' quote, one word, no.

Just to confirm, not in poetry because I can't do it, we'll be 'open' every Sunday morning to do teas, coffees, biscuits and the odd cake. This is to support Rebecca's fund raising for her Scout Jamboree Trip to Japan in 2015, she has to raise a sig…

How are you going to complete this and then make it down to London on time?
-
I thought everyone was wearing CCA caps. I'm taking mine and showing it off at work before hand.

Here is the next one, a bit longer at 46 miles and all I can manage whilst the kids are training. This route takes in The Tumble one of the 'Top 100' climbs. Again follow your nose off the top and join the sustrans route when you feel like it. Howeve…

Hi Skelders, Very well and still in the City if you fancy a pint, probably best to meet up at the club do on 6/12. Here is my first route, I know it's short (28 miles) but there's a couple of cheeky little climbs and you have to be prepared to foll…

Any more takers?

Claire, Tim, I'm happy to take this ride out. How far do I need to set the route, is the departure time and location for everyone? Richard
-
I'm in, although it looks like it's going to be very expensive if juniormaynard turns up as well.
-
I have a couple of nice rides if you can take your bike, otherwise it's one of the most mind numbing sessions you'll ever see at Newport. If you want the routes I'm happy to post them.

And one from 2012 Richard

Just thought I'd add a couple of old photos from 2008 from the Ixworth Crit meeting which is probably the closest event in 'feel' to the aims of the Ashwell Crit next year. Richard

I'd just like to echo Tim's comments. Kit is one of the hardest jobs in any club and anyone who 'volunteers' for the role needs our 100% support.
-
This event is defiantly on, briefing at 10.30hrs, so as not to waste any track time. There will be at least six derny bikes racing. I've had an enquiry about the cost. This is for the track rental and fuel for the bikes.

Hi Pearce, Do you have any left as my lot could do with a couple each. Richard

For me they lost the plot when they got big, got bought out and then got even bigger.

Hi Mark, Well done to James in making the big step up to National Series Racing. Rebecca had probably one of the best races of her career and finished around 20th. Dan was not quite as successful and was lapped with 5 to go in what was a very quick …

I'm afraid that it's a very uncomfortable position but it's the UCI approved posture to create as much draft as possible. After a couple of hours I walked like John Wayne

Guys, Thanks for leading the way both Rebecca and I were in bits whern we got back. I had a quick recovery drink and slice of toast and then went to Welwyn to help run in the three new Derny bikes. Sunday evening was not pleasant, nor was Monday…

Sencio, The exerpt above was from an e-mail from Francis dated 2/4/13, so I'm presuming that Monday's start on 8/4/13, I'll try to clarify this week. Nathaniel, Acreditation to train in the open sessions on Monday and race on Fridays is down to th…
