Thanks to those who have already volunteered! A few of us met with the school last Friday and I am getting more excited about this race. We have a great course featuring woodland, fields, off camber, a good run up, pave, a tarmac road sprint finish…

LOL !

I am accumulating a stash of rear derailleurs from eBay so I have a stock of parts to deal with breakages. These, and levers, seem to be the vulnerable parts on a CX bike. I suppose electric ones can be fixed as well, but I suspect the parts are no…

Well...

Not a complete bike, but a good price (54cm) LINK

Not looked at that Focus offering before; looks great. I guess you have to ride it to see how it behaves to really know. It seems to have a carbon fibre frame so could be lighter than the Boardman; indeed my impression was that the Boardman ended u…

Mitchy, When are you planning your first race? Daniel
-
Best of luck with this venture Jamie! Daniel
-
Nice photos. Are you checking your nail varnish Iain? (At least I waited until after the race to check mine!)

Mitchy, I'm not 5'7" either. I would caution getting a sloping top tube CX bike; you need to be able to get your shoulder through the triangle when running with the bike. For those who take one of the smaller frame sizes a sloping top tube can leav…

That's wonderful thank you everyone. Keep those offers coming! Daniel

Thanks Tim! We are hoping to do as much of the setup as possible on the Friday, so your offer is very welcome. Of course this would 'earn you enough Brownie points' to race on the day.

What a great ride. Very hot; but I shouldn't complain about good weather. Many thanks to Mark for an excellent route and to Mark and Stevie for organising the midway food and water.
-
Where and when do we meet up Mark?
-
Sadly this date is not good for me Mark.

Argos have a great reputation and friends have been pleased with renovations. Good luck with the renovation!

Congratulations Luke, really great news. Now to phase 2?

I recommend you make sure your clinchers are in very good condition or brand new. If they have a slash in them a latex tube will haemorrhage out more readily than a butyl. However the theory goes that you are less likely to get tyre damages once fitt…

Just ridden Ventoux with Vittoria clinchers and scrupulously fitted latex inner tubes. The descent into Malaucene is a joy, especially as it has been recently resurfaced. Climb from Bedoin drags on. Sumitted at 20:30, which was a good time. Beers in …

Great route Mark, thank you. I enjoyed the cornfield! Incredible puncture record.
-
Just spoken to someone who lives in the area. One of the tunnels between the Col De Lautaret and Borg DOisons has indeed collapsed. A ferry service is in operation taking cyclists around the obstruction; across Lac du Chambon. Obviously a viable…

Splendid film. Thanks for making this Nat. Thanks for posting it.

...and a novel wheel carrying rack.
-
Thanks Mark! Two groups if more than 10 is very sensible.
-
Frightening stuff Geoff; I hope you've managed to steady your nerves now. A good reminder to check our machines for safe operation.
-
This is a glorious route. I am probably not available over the weekend, but if I can be there I will. Recommended.

Avoid one which is too soft. Roll on them quite slowly. It will hurt, especially when you start using it. They are effective though. I ordered one on Monday from Escape Fittness as I was poorly with a sportive hangover!

'...but with a smile on your face...' Sort of.

I've looked at the results again. I think the best time was 6:23. In 2015 2% got sub 7 hours and 14% sub 8 hours; in 2014 10% got sub 7 hours and 38% got sub 8 hours.

Congratulations Will. This is a tremendous result.
