Who would have thought there's a little bit of the Lake District in Basildon! That hill is as steep as Hardnott Pass; only with grass an not tarmac. Theo was amazing. Getting a good start he established himself in the lead group in the first lap. …

Cheddar Gorge is no problem, not even on a fixed. There are some challenging hills in the area of course! Daniel

Tant pis! (At least I don't have to worry about finding the money now!) Thanks for letting me know. Daniel

LoveFilm claim to have a copy of 'Breaking Away' on DVD, but I had it on back order all the time we were members and never got to borrow it. I think a group got together to commemorate the anniversary of the film a year or two ago. My recollection …

It turns out Chelmsford is further east than it should be! Despite arriving on time (ish) my race had already reached the 80 rider limit. I was therefore faced with not riding at all or doing the Elite Vet ride at 14:00. Despite knowing almost not…

Just two passenger places left now!

Hello everyone! I have updated the Youth Calendar to include some Cyclocross events. Mainly the Eastern Cross League races. These are very well organised and muddy great fun to ride for Youth and Adult riders a like. You can find the updated cale…

I have the same lamp as Phil; no doubt it is great. However this one is 4 times brighter and 1/3 the cost. here Chat to Theo, he seems to be up on this sort of thing. Daniel

Majorca is supposed to be wonderful for cycling. I'm interested. Daniel

Great race at Hoggenburg (Hog Hill aka Redbridge). My first and it was jolly hard. Phil K punctured early on which was a great shame. I laked basic fitness and elementary skills which contributed to my heroic finishing position. Erm, last. Still…

Thanks for your patience people. Daniel

Cyclocross is better. Still not a race every evening so the advice you have is good. Get one with a heavy fly wheel, eg Kurt Kinetic. I'm sure other brands have this fetaure as well. Daniel

Depart Lands End and head north east until reaching Bristol. Head due north from there. Simples!

The thing is I get blurred vision when I go to the pub.

9 days? Pussies! Gethin Butler did the first 400 miles in 16 hours. Finished the whole ride in a weekend. Are there any fords on the route? Daniel

Here's some video footage of our friend James Dobbin going up Hardknott; link Scroll to 5:30 This is the hardest hill I've been up. Interesting that Tim is suggesting a low ratio induces wheel spin. Should you climb these hills on the big ring the…

Let's just ride our own version of The Fred. I tried this in May and had to miss out Honnister Pass as I was too destroyed. Daniel

A great event indeed and a fantastic occassion for us to cpme together as a club at the end of the summer. Many thanks to Max for organising the races and BC admin, Chris' catering team and, most of all, Geoff. His tireless labour and energy have…

Well done everyone, especially Cameron. 25:03 is a great time and a fantastic achievement on top of your success at Assen. Congratulations! Daniel

Interesting that the event is run on Thursday June 2nd 2012. This date does not exist! Riding a route on a date that doesn't exist must surely mean you can travel at an infinite speed? Mine's a pint of 'event horizon'. Daniel

Congratulations Robbie. A great achievement. (I feel tired just reading the decription!) Daniel

Finally managed to get an internet connection! Lads (all of them) are enjoying themselves. Yesterday was the road race featuring the incredible cobbled road. Theo lost time being the wrong side of a crash but made it well across the cobbles (a ben…

The centre to centre spacing on a Campag 8 speed cassette is 5mm. For Shimano 8 speed it is 4.8mm and Simano 9 speed 4.34mm. So a pure Shimano 9 speed set up would not work on Campag 8 speed. However the proposition here is if Shimano 9 speed shif…

Tim, Brilliant idea. I hope to be there. Please can everyone wear club kit, this way I will try to grab a few photos which might get used to promote our fine new facility. Daniel

Well the story of my ride goes like this. I tried to bridge to the lead group on Lilley Bottom to ask that they stop to allow those caring for Carmelo to catch up. I failed and slowed down to let Theo join me; he came fuming past with the single of…
