Happy New Year Martin! I'm signed up for the 21st, but also couldn't resist signing up for this saturday (7th), just to try and reduce the christmas cheese-belt... Cheers, Dave.

Thanks Mitchy - hopefully see you there!
-
Oh, and I'm going back to race at Full Gas on 10th Dec, if anyone fancies it? Go on Matt, you're going to have to start somewhere...!
-
Saturday was 226w (ftp was about 265w last time I tested on the road, but its probably dropped to about 250w) - makes a big difference (ie less power required) if you stay tucked into the bunch - as soon as you drop off the back and try to keep up (o…

Great write-up Martin, you seem to have a far more vivid memory of races than I do- they just become a bit of a blur... Really enjoyed that; and you can't underestimate the psychological benefit of having a team mate in the race, even if opportunitie…

Come on Matt, what's the worst that can happen? And if it does, you can join me for some 2-up TT training...
-
I'm in!!!! Better put the summer bike back together....
-
Matt, if you wanted a bit of race training in advance, I can recommend these coaching days (usually in Sussex) - you have to have done two of them to be allowed to race in some leagues, but good value at £20 per day - I did two before my first race,…

That's a shame. Failing that though, there is always the Brivelo Series at MK Bowl - https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/155301/Brivelo-Autumn-Series-Round-3 I was waiting to see if I can shift a cold before I book anything for Saturday …

Definitely up for that Martin, although probably worth me making my own way there, as we're not exactly en-route... I've decided to race at Gravesend tomorrow (12.30)- sorry, it's probably a bit short notice for you, I only realised yesterday that wi…

Sorry, I put the wrong date - should be the 16th, not the 2nd..! Thanks for the tip Matt- however, after your experience, I don't think we'll be risking getting the train home...
-
Same as Gareth really... One minor correction though- I think the point of a two-man breakaway is that you share the work- unfortunately my legs were a bit cooked by that point, so I didn't really contribute a whole lot to the attempt, it was as much…

Thanks Martin, good point - pretty sure its kicking about in my kit bag, but I think I may even pre-pin it in advance to avoid stressing out punctual team-mates on the line this week... I'll have a think about the 18th - day after the Brogborough TT …
-
Hi Gareth, I'll be there for a birthday spin! Hopefully get to the start line in time for a warm-up this week... See you there! Dave.

The Rankings are out, courtesy of the generous, clever people at Speakthinkblog - more than happy with Jenny's 100th woman and my 1006th man...
-
Thanks - I'd love to do chain gang, but sadly Tuesdays just don't work for me...
-
Great fun- thanks for being such an accommodating teammate Martin! Learning points: - don't just trust Satnav: getting to a start line with literally two minutes to spare after running between car and HQ as the only warm-up is not good preparation, …
-
Good thinking Martin - yes, they've just confirmed there's still spaces, so I'll see you there - I'll be leaving Stevenage as close to 4 as I'm possibly able, so fingers crossed just after five for some warm-up laps - forgot the turbo...
-
Alright Mr Lawless, you've twisted my arm- I'll see you up there for 6; you can tow me round...!
-
Had a new battery just the other week, and recalibrate every time I change it between bikes (is this necessary on a Stages PM? Not sure what it actually does...) - looked like a fairly normal reading on the way down to the start...
-
Thanks gents, all very intriguing, everyone raises some good points... Brendan - just from what I've seen, I think the ratio of emphasis on aero to power-producing position depends quite a lot between different manufacturers - some companies bikes s…
-
James, I don't suppose you or anyone else picked up a small black cotton purse with a blue tag, containing a few cards and some cash, maybe on the sign-in desk? I was waiting for it to come out of the washing machine with my skinsuit, but it wasn't t…

Thanks very much to the helpers! Technical question for any budding power analysts: last night as I had been expecting to marshall till the last minute, I rode my road bike, without any aero bars - unsurprisingly given the wind, bike choice and massi…

Hi Will, sorry no, hadn't been able to make it to club night for a few months now; didn't realise there was any stock in the way of aero jerseys- I'll do my best to try to get there soon... Cheers, Dave
-
Ditto. At 6.15, this was my earliest start so far, and the difference in the improved quality of riding was noticeable compared to the later starts - yes, often felt like the chaos of a Cat 4 race, but I didn't see any truly terrible riding this year…
-
Hi Will, please can I have a medium-sized VR001 Aero Jersey, £44.10. Thanks! Dave.
-
Thanks in advance for the Geoff, looking forward to catching up! I'm considering driving up on Thursday night (got to come back Sunday morning)- would that be OK with you? Thanks! Dave.
-
Hi Jeremy - I've sent you a message on here - let me know if it doesn't turn up...

+1 on Martin's comments. Nicely arranged event with beautiful weather, the Garden City heritage design of the centre really lends itself to the event, it's a real asset to the town - I can't compare with Letchworth, as unfortunately we were on holida…

Sounds great- I'd heartily recommend it after last year - count me in for either weekend (bday weekend in August), and probably Jenny if August...
