Turbo/Rollers Thursdays

edited November 2010 in General
This Thursday 4th November 7.30-9.00pm @ Ashwell School

I will be there from 7.00pm so come early to get ready and set up if you want/can.

I have booked the dining hall until March 2011. ALL welcome. Bring your OWN Bike, turbo and rollers (if you have them)

I will be taking a roller session every Thursday. I have several session plans from British Cycling to get people started.
We can work out your aims and see how these fit with your planned development.
The club now has two spare sets of rollers and anyone wanting to learn to ride rollers is welcome to come and try.
Andrew has planned some TURBO sessions and Phil will be there some Thursdays to help run this.

If you already have a programme you wish to work with then feel free to just come along and work out. The main thing is that there are other sufferers there to make it a less boring session than just doing it on your own in the garage.

I hope to get some professionals to run the odd session and maybe someone has some dvd/cd planned sessions they can bring along.

Don't know yet how these will pan out so just come along and get started.

charges for sessions as for Tuesdays..........Adult 18+ £2........Youth 12-17 £1.50......Youth 12 and under £1

  • just keeping this on the top...see you all tonight
  • thanks to those who came last night...early days yet for these so I will run them for another two to three weeks to gauge numbers.

We need a core of 8-10 to make these sessions financially viable so come on all those Turbo and potential roller trainers..... the more the merrier
  • I know it's hard to make these sessions, but we do need a few more takers to cover hire costs...please try and make it if you want to do some structured sessions which should help to build skills and base level fitness......we can work on strength and speed later on .....
  • Geoff. Next few weeks are full of work related xmas stuff. If it snows... might be a good idea for a Saturday morning session like last year?
  • good idea Robbie...I was wondering whether to switch from Thursday to Saturday as a permanent solution....Have also been considering having some fun with these sessions by organising mixed teams and simulating races...that way we could run rollers and turbo's together and have teams competing with eachother..like pursuit ..points race and madison...have some sessions that Rob Sharman mailed to me and as he was down this Thursday we had a good chat about how to make these sessions attractive to a broader spectrum of club riders......I'm up for organising them if anyone is interested......Mark Wyer also has some watt bikes which we could wire up to a screen and have club racing.....Rob was also volunteering to run some sessions with us.........how about trying some this Dec. and then planning a post christmas work off the christmas turkey and pudding race session?
would solve the dual problems of dark/cold and icy winter weather and people not having time in the evenings. As a bonus it would bring a wide range of club riders together and make the boring turbo roller lonely sessions we do in garages more fun.
  • turbo and rollers tomorrow..Thursday
I have an arrangement with the school which means we can continue these sessions with reduced numbers so less financial concern now.
Rollers are a good discipline and fun...they improve your core strength and pedalling.....we have club rollers so do drop in and have a go....bring your turbo and join the fun....school open 7-9pm
  • NO CHANCE of Turbo at school this SATURDAY 4th....the school is fully used for a craft day......I am prepared to open up the hall for these sessions on a Saturday if there is the demand....must have a days notice to let the school know....please respond if interested...would suit all comers and given our recent weather might be a better shot than the road.
  • Are we on for turbos etc tomorrow or on Sat morning this week?
  • still Thursdays for the present
  • LATE NOTICE......TWISTED MY BACK.......NO SESSION TONIGHT...VERY SORRY

  • im going tonight
  • No turbo or rollers this week 3rd March as I am at an exhibition this Thursday...normal service resumed next week 10th March
  • 10th March....rollers and turbo for anyone interested.....it's a useful skill and quite a lot of fun when you've got the hang.........from 7pm..see you at Ashwell School
  • Rollers will continue until we start the Go-Ride in May.....see you all this Thursday 24th March
  • On reflection I have decided to call these over tonight....this session is the last one until next Sept/Oct........I hope that all those who have taken part and learnt will have gained and enjoyed the experience.
I intend to integrate roller sessions into our Thursday Go-Ride from May onwards. o all is not lost...they now move into a practical application phase.
Thanks to everyone who has helped and attended
