Cycle insurance

edited January 2011 in General
Just done a search on the forum, and found some very useful comments. I have just taken out insurance through the CTC (Butterworth Insurance ). When the small print arrives, I find that I am obliged to fit a floor or wall-mounted bracket in my garage from which to shackle lock my steed with a sold-secure, silver rated, lock. The lock and bracket together will cost as much as one years insurance! Will also need a 5 lever mortice lock on my garage side door. In addition, I am obliged to take the shackle lock on rides in case I have to pop to the loo or whatever. As the lock weighs about 10 lb, there is not a lot of point in paying out for a lightweight bike in the first place. Certainly cannot recommend the CTC insurance scheme - just not tailored to reality. Will now try my home insurance or M&S as suggested by others. Thanks for your earlier comments.

About 18 months ago I went through all the same hoops - Ended up insuring with M & S as they seemed to have about the best deal at the time.....
