  • Race report

"you go down a hill, then there's the easy bit and then it's hahaha! back up the other hill" Oliver woolsey on Hogg hill.

Ollie's race was first in the under 12's around the bottem circuit, unfortunatly I came to late to see his race so I am unclear on the results.

The next race was the youth A and B (Me, Jon and Cameron) At this time it was cold and raining. Cameron had a good start and was first down the hill, I at this point was a bit misarble and just warming up (as i didn't have the time before). Cameron did very well stying in the peleton, but later on got droped up the beastly hill. about two thirds into the race i caught up Cameron and a rider called Jack, we worked together to carry on but Cameron had done alot of work in trying to get back on the main group. on the bell lap jack sneaked foward and I follwed, Unfortunatly Cameron had used spent his energy and did'nt catch us. I caught jack up and took him over on the hill not sure where i finished. Jon seemed to do well riding round in a mini group (we lapped him on the last lap), but Cameron showed the best performance. However this race is made much more difficult when your soaked to the bone, the track is wet and slippery and water is sprying in your face.

I didn't see the start of the 4th cat race but Dan and pete showed a great performance with Pete finishing 13th and Dan finishing 11th

I only saw the start of the 3rd's, Dave, Phill and Jez powered round the track with all of them in the peleton. unfortunatly Jez came of with a flat.

Racing at Milton kenynes bowl next week sould be some interesting raceing (if the weathers good).
  • CAMERON, -Have to add that the Theo-saurus' race was superb.... after 'warming up' to catch me and Jack was great as we had done alot of work. The whole track was rather miserable and the peleton's speed was for ever changing. Going up the smaller hill was enough, don't know if I could have handled the bigger one today!!! Well done to every ashwell rider that competed today another great out come for CCA, great too see some excellent young support from Daniel G.
OLIE- Well the race today was brilliant, unfortunate that it was raining but the whole CCA club did well. I found it hard but I pulled through in the end. I will hopefully get in the breakaway bunch next time. Basically try your hardest and PEDAL!!!!!!

Some good reports there which pretty much cover the days events. On a personal note, I found this track quite a different prospect to Hillingdon which lends itself to larger pack riding in the Cat 4s. Hog Hill is a much tougher track to stay in the pack with all the twists and turns. The Cat 3s I noticed stayed together far longer into their race which shows their class. Hopefully one of the Cat 3s will give us a report as we had to leave before they finished as we were wet through after our respective races and had had a long day already.
Thanks to all who made Daniel G welcome and he really enjoyed himself cheering everybody on. With some luck and a bit of mending time, he'll be up for a bit of racing himself in the months to come.
  • with a bit off work ill be at the fitness off which i was before in a month or so. It was Good racing form CCA, Dave mentioned that he came 6th-what he needed to get into cat 2! and Ithink phil came 11, not to sure though The conditions were treacherous, water flying off your wheels, just like in grand prix racing!
