I've got 4 hours so might do the usual hilly route south of the A505 back through Lilley valley etc.
Unless there's a more challenging route with hills?
Howz aboot making the usual loop a bit hillier and a wee bit longer? Up to Preston from Whitwell - and back down King's Walden. And a helter-skelter DOWN Sundon Hill, to then go up next-door Sharpenhoe Clappers. http://www.bikemap.net/route/857780
66 miles - so should be alreet for 4 hrs in the Spring sun.
This route is pretty much a Doncaster standard and so is recommended. On recent outings it has become Theo's custom to note the time difference between his summit arrival and my own.
I'd love to join you but I am, erm, taking Theo to a race. (Am I missing something here?)
Get well soon Tim. Dont want to scupper my plan of wheel sucking you round Cheshire. If you still have the same complaint it will be to the back of the train for you!
7 out in proper Spring sun. Me, Robbie, James, Pete, Phil K, Declan and Andy H. Stuck to the route except put on a couple of miles to Harlington - it's too tight to come down Sundon 40mph+ and take the right turn. Refilled drink bottles in the cafe at Hexton: it's like something out of Bagpuss.
A few of us were lucky enough to bump into James B in Ashwell - complete with new green machine. Something special - watch out Sunday sprinters. 68m @ 17.1mph
Best day of the year so far. 71 miles all in for me. Speed dropped off dramatically after I broke off for my "short cut" home. A600 into Hitchen not fun must remember not to do that one again... Sharpenhoe Clappers - where did that come from!! Thanks for the ride all. See you next week for the big one.
Thanks to all for a great ride. The weather was superb and i even enjoyed the run up Sharpenhoe Clappers!!! Although the Sundon hill looks a bit of a beast but great fun going down.
