Hillingdon -3/4 cat

edited April 2011 in Club runs
Has anyone heard that hillingdon is scrapping BC points for cat 3/4 races? Does anyone know the details or reasons behind this? All I can see it achieving is less club riders hoping to move up the categories and more of a free for all. It's also going to make it a nightmare moving up especially as i can't get down to hog hill or the bowl.

A little bit peeved to be honest

  • Just found this, thought???

"While the upper race qualifies for the C+ range of ranking points, this year the lower categories race will not qualify for ranking points, but still for prizes, as the organisers regard the BC points system for 4th cats to be unsafe in situations when races exclusive to that category are held. This race is now open for 3rd cat riders opting to race at a lower level rather than with the higher ranked riders and not worrying about points but just enjoying the racing experience."

  • cockeyed thinking........why would a cat 3 who has got clear of the chaos of inexperienced bunch riders in cat 4 go back into the melee and uncertainty rather than move on and up?...you know the ones who are the danger..don't look around, aren't aware of other riders, can't hold their line, put their brakes on in the bunch, can't corner tight...all this stuff that our young riders learn before they race...british Cycling know this too, and rather than bring in a qualifying racing accreditation system for newbies they take this route...needs more work I think.
