  • Sorry mate not this time. I think we will be doing the tuesday nights later on. We have a mega weekend of racing so we'll be too tired.
  • are you sure of this Dave? if so might stay on and support as am on RSR during day with Rob Sharman
  • Yeah it's the tuesday night crits that run throughout the summer. I believe this is the 3rd of the year

  • Am interesting first race of the year, I had 30 mins on the clock @ 25.1mph when I stopped due to a crash in the e/1/2/3 race. The race ran for 43 mins in total so I wasn't far from the lap boards and feeling ok. Despite the lack of points on offer a surprising number of 3rd cats took to the field. A total of 30 riders for the 3/4 and I think 40-50 for the e/1/2/3.

In the 3/4 race I managed to stick to the front portion for most of the race, a number of half-hearted break attempts were made until 3 riders (2 from Paragon) jumped off the front and minutes later were joined by a 3rd Paragon rider. In hindsight 3 riders from one team was definitely the break to be with. In the end a culmination of slowing up for the crash, slowing for the elite race to pass and a well worked break saw them finish 1 min clear and left the field sprinting for the minor places.

In the e/1/2/3 race a break also managed to hold on for the win by a couple of seconds. Phil stayed in the bunch which was moving at whooping 28+mph average or so I heard proclaimed in the clubhouse afterwards! So hats off Phil!

The course was run in a clockwise direction (new to me) and the finish was on the long straight which worked really well.

I am heading down next Tuesday so would be good to boost the ranks of both races and I can see having team-mates around you makes a big difference, oh and I will be watching those paragon riders!!!!

Anyone game? Its a 1900/1901 so need to be there for 1830 at latest.

Apologies for not updating on the youth race, with the rigmarole of the crash I forgot to find out how the youth racer(s)? did. I know it was an RSR coaching day so many were knackered. Coaches alike I also heard!!!!!

Oh the rider who was taken to hospital is out and doing well. Evidence of not skimping on a good helmet!
  • None of the CCA youth stayed on after the RSR.

Daniel was 3rd U 14 just managing to outsprint his Welwyn team mate.
Richard reported that the car waa silent on way home, both boys being completly exhausted after 6 hours of training & then the race.
