I'm taking the hearse, which has room for several bikes, 5 occupants and a floral tribute. So far I have three people, 2 bikes and 2 racing licences (mine and Theo's) so add in a set of rollers and I don't have that much more space.
Im hoping to do this one, got a stag do the night before so its a bit of a maybe!
Other races I was looking at doing in the near future...
Techniflo rr 8th may
Ashwell primevera 22nd may
baxter and king rr 29th may
aberton road race 6th june
Finchley rr 12th june
havent been given a place for any yet, but would be good to have a few people there!
A fantastic day out at Woodbridge today, loved it.
A successful day for the youth with some solid results from the Maynard's and a sterling effort for a Fourth from Theo. And well done to Maynard Senior for completing the line-up for a full family of racers today.
Here are a few images from the day. Quite a few of which were taken by my son Daniel. They're in reverse order for some reason so start at the last one and work back.
thanks pete, I didnt take that many but I did the panning ones. I remember danie taking the pictures then saying "oh they have there tour de frances faces on"
The Woodbridge Criteriums were run for the first time on a former military airfield east of Ipswich on Saturday. It was a burning hot day. The organisation was good, the attendance significant. The runways and service roads provided excellent opportunity for interesting and varied courses. CCAs focus was first on the Youth A ride in which we were represented by Theo. I am so proud to report he rode a perfect race, seeing the break and clinging to it. In the closing stages he was dropped, but the 3 in front of him were serious riders in his category. Daniel Maynard was also racing, sorry dont know where he finished (but I do know he finished 5th today!) Next up was the Go Ride in which newbie CCA racer Richard Maynard made his debut. A solid performance which left him hooked. Nice one! There was no 4th cat race so Pete Green and I entered the ¾ race. A large field with more 3 than 4 on the start sheet. It was a furious start which first saw me out of the back and then Pete. I tried but simply was not able to bridge to his group. I ended up chain gaining with a couple of fellow racers to consolidate our position. Pete did pretty much the same, but further up the field. Perhaps it was inevitable that we got lapped. I think Jez was racing too, but I confess I didnt see him. I believe he retired ill. Great racing though. We saw the start of the E123 in which Josh Maynard was racing. Blimey, this was FURIOUS. I understand Josh managed 7th which given the pace is fantastic. It was also a race attracting National points so some real capital. Go Josh! Daniel
