A Sunday ride

edited June 2011 in Club runs
Hi
Having failed to make the Chiltern 100 Epic (I had man flu and unlike Martin bottled it!), and being in desperate need to get some miles in the legs ahead of the Marmotte, I'll probably set out to do a longer ride this Sunday (over 80m), and perhaps leave earlier too (8am). May do the ride Martin posted a while back over to Woburn taking in Hexton/Sundon hills (at least I think it did). Anyone interested do come along - probably try to go at 18s plus.

  • Ian, I am up for this. Will probably go for a 65 mile route and leave you on the way home at sandon so you could get in a few repeats there for a good measure.

See you at 8am outside the three tuns?
  • iain / james
could do this one with you we done this sort of one a couple of weeks ago james will remember the gail force winds
if you come langford henlow way i might meet you at clifton if thats alright if not i will come to ashwell no problem
    just post a reply
    thanks
    strappy.
  • Hmmm, i probably should do this one. Although 8 am, wet forecast and 6 8 year olds over for a sleepover on saturday night mean im a bit 50/50. If im not at the Tuns dont wait for me and ill go out at 9.
  • Good idea. I'll see you at 08:00 at the 3 Tuns.
    Daniel
  • Strappy - will go the same way as last time so can meet you at Clifton. I would have thought at about 8.20?

Looks like a mini marmotte posse is likely to occur. Any more of us out there or sane club members who want to join the ride????
  • i should join you with etape in mind, not very good at getting up early though... hopefully be there
  • nice one boys see at the clifton roundabout i will wait at the the crown pub bring your snorkels & flippers ha ha.
    cheers
    strappy.
  • I am going to have a lie in. Enjoy the ride!
  • Myself, Stef, Peter, Phil, Strappy and Daniel out in the wind and rain. Went over to Woburn, taking in Brickhill, Sundon etc. the 'trusty' sat nav was on blink a little and we cut out some of the planned distance - but about 75-80miles in total, no idea of the average.
1 puncture - with Stef vowing to ditch the pro 3's (?) on account of near impossibility to get on when you can't feel your hands and its peeing down.
    Good ride though
    Cheers Iain
  • I had 76 miles at 18mph on return to Letchworth. I imagine yours would be similar.
  • yes cold + rain + pro 3's = bad idea. thanks for patience and help, especially strappy and pete.
great ride, thanks for the route iain, although its a very long time since i've been that cold and wet at the end of a ride.
i clocked 84 miles at 18's. enough to justify a large roast and a couple of pints ipa recovery drink.
  • only thing missing was the snow felt like a winter ride as i had a shorter run only 70 on the clock couldn't bring myselft to look at ave speed but all the same a good ride.

stef i was planning to get those pro 3 for the marmotte glad i chose the bontrager r3 instead i will let you know if they are any good.
    thanks to all
    strappy.
